Nice one

BTW pic is an A45, did you drive that or the CLA45 variant ? I get my chance to test drive both early next year as soon as my dealer gets an A45 demo in, they already have a CLA45 demo.

Aparrently there's a noticeable difference in the 2, the A45 being more maneuverable and quicker, if you drove the CLA45 and were impressed then the A45 would be be totally awesome.

How was the ride compared to other AMG's? C32, C55, C63?

I thought the C63 rode rather rough on my test drive.

i was extremely impressed with this car.
I AGREE!! Here here! I love my CLA 45, a BLAST! Its a front biased AWD car tho

Cool matte dark grey paint job! That was never offered in Canada, only the matte polar silver

I am aware of how performance vehicles ride (owned 3 AMGs, 1 srt-6, and a base XF, just on the MB side).

There is a difference between aggressive i.e. (E92 M3) and jarring (2009 C63 I drove)

I daily drive an SRT-4 neon with complete polyurethane bushings in the suspension, and it rides like a Cadillac compared to the C63.

I guess I will find out when I test drive one. I haven't driven an E63, but I did not think the 211 E55's ride was bad at all.

I can weigh in on this....I recently drove a 2014 E63 S model....my CLA 45 with the performance AMG suspension rides MUCH harder and the handling feels better. E63 just felt that much heavier

Here's a completely unfair comparison, but there's an answer

I don't care whether the competition is equal, as the other poster I'm sure doesn't as well. Just looking for an experienced opinion if you will.

Both I guess. Numbers are out there, some vary. If you've had the opportunity I'd take your real world experience over someone or some entity that I don't know at all....

I gotcha, thanks for the feedback. A technician's opinion far exceeds any reviewer's to me.

youve got a boosted engine against an NA engine and when you feel the power kick in is totally different as well. so that was my point in saying its hard to say which one "feels faster" theyre both fast, in their own ways.
Well said.....there is also a noticeable difference between the twin scroll M133 engine in the CLA 45 and the bi-turbo V8 in say the E63. The bi-turbo, which is NOT a twin scroll, definitely feels like it has quite a bit more turbo lag. Twin scroll set up in the M133 is impressive. Inherently there will always be turbo lag, but that was just my observations after driving all the AMGs

I haven't seen a test out there that shows the CLA45 being as fast as a C63. It's around a 1/2 second slower in the 1/4 mile and traps at least 6-8 mph slower. I would think in everyday driving the C63 will be faster as its always in the power band. You don't need LC to get optimal acceleration. I like to look at the 5-60 times as that seems more typical in real world driving. The CLA45 is in the mid 5's where the C63 is in the low-mid 4's. The CLA45 is definitely no slouch. Looking forward to seeing what a tune will do.

Glad to hear, my previous car was a 2008 BMW M3, and I currently own a Cayman S, Acura NSX and a Lotus Exige S.

I have a CLA 45 AMG on order, but that's the reason I never considered a Mercedes before, I like handling above all else.

I test drove a friends E63 AMG and I thought ride quality was fine. If you have 19 inch wheels with low profile tires, the ride will be harsh no matter what type of car it is.

2015 E63S AMG & 2013 GLK350
Comparing the two cars and engines is not an easy task, they are so different but just on the boosted 4cyl vs na 8cyl the M133 is a 2.0L plus 1.775 additional atmosphere which equals an engine that moves as much air as a 5.5L and since it turns 500rpm less than the M156 it can't make up for it with rpm (M156 makes peak hp 100rpm higher than M133 redline). Very different in terms of total power and feel, let alone the RWD vs front bias AWD.

IMO both great cars but not really all that comparable at the moment.

As for ride quality it's tough to compare newer AMG cars to older models starting with the w204 C63 and w212 E63 the suspensions became more focused - earlier models rode much more Mercedes like. That said I love my C63's ride and wouldn't want it any other way
