Stock performing much better than the after-market tune! Shocking.

Makes sense. If you run too much timing on crappy fuel, the ECU will cut power to save the motor from going boom.

This is the #1 problem with all piggybacks, it is inherent in their design. The gains are never consistent and there are always issues popping up.

This is why you should only do reflash tunes if possible. Nothing beats a good high quality flash tune. You are less likely to run into such issues if you get a reflash tune appropriately matched to your octane availability for your specific country

Piggy back or reflash...if you're tuned for 93 and you run 89...you're car will be slower. I can only assume this video depicts a scenario like this because my car is WAY faster with the Renntech tune.

TightTT if your Car is faster with the Renntech tune then why are you selling it..please explain...
thanks

Was reading the A Class forum from UK... there was a Renntech user running Setting 6 and got a slower number from 0-60 and 1/4mile on his Vbox compare to Setting 3 because of fuel quality. People wants to get the most from their engine without carefully dial out all the problems. Bottom line is Renntech or any other tunes will make a significant improvement to our cars when the fuel and setting works right together.

The tune working well....and the sale of my Renntech module have nothing to do with each other.

You can read numerous reviews on this site, as well as others, regarding the Renntech tune and the real-worl difference it makes. If you adjust the setting for race fuel, and run sub-par fuel, it will retard timing in an attempt to save the motor, thus, making the car slower. Tuning 101.

Some people say one thing but do another. If the tune was making any "real world" difference i'm sure it would be able to adapt or run on "sub-par fuel". Selling your tune after having it for less than a year most likely means you were not satisfied after spending a fortune on a tuning part. I'm just trying to prevent people from making the same mistake you did and just be happy with their potent AMG. It's ancient technology for such a highly sophisticated car, so why charge such a premium on a "sub-par" performance part.

No matter how sophisticated the engine is, ECU is still rely on signals from multiples sensors for calculations. Piggy back is just in between to alter the signals. Does it work? Yes... Is it the best solution? As far as right now, it's the best options available. Even if there is a proper ECU flash, if the fuel quality can't match the mapping, the ECU will just pull timing and decrease performance.

I wouldn't call a 12.0 1/4 mile a "Sub-par performance part", especially when coupled with the other gains I have seen when using my Vbox over stocks times (0-60mph, 0-100mph, 30-130mph, 100-200kmh). All done on the same day/same conditions (greasy and very cold)

Stock -

Stage 1 -

Uploading some videos from Youtube of cars that you no doubt have no connection to/experience of and then slagging off RENNtech is a bit harsh tbh.. Some of these tuned VAGs from Russia are running some quick times and decent power. Pretty sure the Golf R on the Stage 1 video (which is different to the R in the stock run) is one of the cars that is also running Meth.. Add to that the fact that the A45 in question may not be running to it's full potential and it isn't that hard to believe if you ask me.

Just to put this into perspective - this is one of the Golf R's running against a Stage 2 Audi RS3 (around 420-30bhp)..

i think renntech has a dial that you turn according to the gas you can get . .

for the rebellion one...well i hope it does something automatically...

Modern ECU's can adapt to different octane levels, but they can only go so far. The Renntech module gives you the ability to adjust the timing and boost higher to accommodate the use of race gas. Do you own a Renntech box...or are you just guessing.
You're talking out of your a$$ and making assumptions. Perhaps Im selling my car? Perhaps Im trading it in? Making the assumption that a high end AMG tuner like Renntech would sell a tuning unit that doesnt work, based on one internet video you found, posted by a person who no one knows is, well, quite foolish. Jumping to conclusions that Im selling my tune because "im not satisfied" is just plain dumb.

As some guys have already mentioned no matter what your tuning preference or choice, bad fuel when set up for good fuel will be slower.

The car is using its engine protection as it should and ensuring no damage is done.

1 thing is for certain is or system is consistent (as are many others) and will give the desired results when used correctly.
