Innotech Cat Back Exhaust Review.
Hey guys,
So I finally received my cat back exhaust for the CLA45. I was worried about check engine lights so I held off on the IPE down pipe and just got the cat back. I did purchase a Weistec DP and I will be reviewing that once I install it.
The exhaust was polished up nice and the welds look great.
- Install, I had a professional install this system. He said it fit up perfect and there was only one tight section near a heat shield. The harder part was wiring up the valvetronic system. The instructions were "ok" but a pro should have no issues.
- Appearence - I like the look of the polished muffler. It def looks much better than the stock muffler. The tubes that go into the stock exhaust tips are also bigger and look nicer.
- Sound - THis exhaust provides a lower pitched sound with a smoother tone. From inside the car it does not seem much louder......just lower pitched. From outside of the car it is louder and the pops between shifts are louder. It still retains most of the stock sound and pops....just a lower..slightly louder more "tuned" sound
The vlavetronic option is nice and it allows you to really quiet down the exhaust.
- Performance - I noticed more power and faster spool up especially in between shifts.
Final thoughts -
I had the Performance exhaust on the car originally. My car is renntech tuned so it does have a more aggressive sound then stock. The performance exhaust sounds great and is higher pitched than the IPE. The performance exhaust is also pretty free flowing so it looks like the real game changer will be an upgraded down pipe. For 90 percent of the CLA45 owners the performance exhaust will be more than perfect. For those extra 10 percent that want to make their car different I think the IPE exhaust is a great upgrade. I am very happy with the different sound and better performance. I will let you guys know how it sounds when I get the DP on.
I need to get some videos soon. I have a small sound clip. If you want to hear it text me at

Please give us feed back on the Weistec DP once it's install. Do you have any issues with your dealer on mods? My dealer is giving me a very tough time on basically anything. They even booked on the Pilot Super Sport that I changed. "Non Mercedes approved tires fitted"..

UPDATE -
I have had the exhaust on for 4 days now and it seems to be fully broken in. I also installed the Arma intake and WOW does this car sound great. The car is louder but nothing that is annoying from inside the car. The sound is much deeper but still retains a sound similar to stock. The car at idle almost sounds so mean! I love it! Highly recommend this combo.
