Matt_ Makes sense. Was mainly wondering since it seem you're achieving almost the same power output with your piggyback tune and supporting modes, yet the 0-60mph and 0-100mph are notably lower with the Stage 2 ECU flash. What's the secret
Love the ECU Stage 2 performance but can't jump to it for the risk of losing my warranty. I guess what can I realistically expect for performance gains with just the following mods:
so those are the #'s for GLA?
doesn't the CLA weigh more?
how much is just ecu flash? and what numbers should be expected from this only
race start/soft launch
This power with the right tires should be able to lay down consistent high 11s in the 1/4 mile every time. Someone needs to get this package and take it to the strip.
Hey! This is my car in the article (and the red one in the stage 2 piggyback pic) and I've had every stage of development that Rebellion have offered up to Stage 2 with ECU, but not yet the turbo mod. I even have the valvetronic exhaust.
I run the car as a street car / everyday driver so pressures and set up are as you would get from the factory. No fancy tyres or suspension either.
The best numbers (run multiple time at the same figures so not one offs either) so far are:
With race start: 3.4s to 60 and 8.4s to 100.
Using Soft launch (S mode, DSC off, floor pedal): 3.5s to 60 and 8.6 to 100.
1/4 mile using soft launch is 11.9 every time so far.
Over the Vmax200 / Hypermax mile it ran 158mph. The 1.44 mile trap saw it hit 168mph.
Race start with the new ECU map is not very successful due to the increased torque levels in 1st and 2nd gear. The front wheels spin too much and the 4matic trips in 3rd cutting power and jumping to 4th. It's not an issue with the software, just that the torque is too much for the haldex / 4matic diff and the car pulls the safety card to protect itself. With future mods we should be able to adjust this. I reckon we could see 3.3s or less to 60 and 8s to 100. Maybe better!!
Soft launch is absolutely fine and there are no issues with wheel spin. Having DSC off completely for Soft Launch helps keep power at 100% rather than being maintained by the traction control monitors. You can hold the brake until revs hit 2.5krpm but the clutch may not appreciate the extra heat. To be honest it does not offer much benefit over a normal foot plant in S.
how's exhaust sound on both quiet/loud settings? I'm having the same system installed on Tuesday, very curious to hear it
In quiet mode the exhaust is pretty muted. It's nigh on silent when pootling around at low revs but it does drone a little higher up the rev band, but it's nothing to complain about. As you'd expect really (I have a decat which may be the thing that causes the drone).
Loud / Race mode is pretty violent. The pops and bangs are massive and it a bit antisocial for most environments (which i like). On the motorway you may get a bit tired of the noise and will switch to quiet mode, but for hooning around the loud setting is excellent, especially when overtaking and upshifting at 6krpm on flyby.
Here is a video (gopro internal mic so still sounds quiet) of mine on loud with the stage 2 piggyback. Since ive had the ECU flash the exhaust note has changed a little, but it's still great,
