I find Michelin Alpin 5 winter tires have the best comfort due to softer high treads... CrossClimate 2 A/S is closer to the Alpin 5 winter tire, so the comfort... You can check the tirerack ratings and tire tests (low rolling resistance/thinner tires should give more comfort):
He said ride excellence, so I assume comfort, therefore the grand touring A/S tires, not winter... I have Michelin A/S 4, excellent tires for performance, but they are closer to summer tires in comfort as well... AMG's have very hard suspension and comfort with the OEM Conti 6 summer tires was my complaint as well. MB service told me to switch A/S and only choice available was A/S 4, so that is my experience on Summer/A/S/ winter UHP tires...
