% off MSRP?
I've been car shopping with my mom for a few months now, and about an hour ago she dropped the ball on me that she likes the CLA. (This coming from a woman who swore up and down she would never own a 4 door car.)
We're looking fairly basic - Red/Black Leather/Burl Walnut/Pano/Xenons, and about a $37K MSRP. Truecar isn't showing that people are getting much of a discount on the CLAs - maybe 3%. I was able to swing about 13% off MSRP on my C. Is there not much margin on the CLA, or are the dealers just not playing ball?

Hearing days supply of the CLA is pretty low in the US - something like low teens. Generally, dealers would expect to turn inventory over like 35-60 days for a regular car model. So I suspect it is a demand/supply issue for the CLA. Might take a while for it to get better - I.e. when most everyone who really really wants one has one and you're left contending with those who just want one.

Based on what I have seen with what is on the lots around here, most likely this will have to be a factory order. We're not lot car people typically - she's very much like me, knows what she likes and won't settle.
Hopefully the A3's success will make them more willing to deal.

Yeah, there aren't enough CLAs right now for demand, not a good time to buy in terms of dollars in your wallet afterwards.
On the other hand, it is a good time to buy the outgoing C Class, plus have RWD to boot. There are some massive discounts being taken on those right now, plus good financing.

I'm still reeling in shock from her saying she wanted a 4 door. She likes the C coupe, but it really is out of her price range. I also want her in something FWD/AWD (she's dealing with Ohio winters, and it is just less to worry about).
When I go home next week, we're gonna test drive this and the Accord EX-L Coupe with Nav, which is the only other thing she likes. I really hope she doesn't like the Accord - I cannot put into words my distaste for Honda/Toyota products.
I'm going to have to bite my tongue and be unbiased - hopefully the droning of the CVT in the Accord drowns out my grumbling.

Unfortunately, this purchase will be made in Dayton, Ohio. I've never dealt with Bob Ross Mercedes before, so this should be interesting.
