First impressions..

There are a few things I've noticed with my CLA which I wanted to point out.

1. The side mirrors are attached to the door and are way to close. It should have been pushed forward more. When driving and looking at the passenger side mirror it almost gives you the impression that the mirror is folded in due to how close it is. It's pretty annoying to me especially considering that the door is short as is.
2. MBUX doesn't open things like the panorama, roll up/down the windows as well as some other little commands. It would be cool if they enabled this in a future update.
3. The CLA I received doesn't come up Keyless Go. I was told by the dealer that they had some parts constraints and because of this the early models will not have it. That stinks since I was spoiled by my C300.
4. There is a code which states my vehicle has Live Traffic so I assumed Nav was part of it. Nope, no navi. It's a bummer since I was looking forward to having it incorporated rather than plugging in my phone.
5. Apple CarPlay doesn't utilize all the/most of the screen real estate so it looks like it wasn't fully optimized for the screen size. You get the big borders on each side.

I'll update this as I drive the car more.

6. The touchpad isn't supported for Android Auto. It works only with Apple Carplay. This makes absolutely no sense.
7. Those bumper caps are hideous. I suspect they are attached with some adhesive
8. "Hey Mercedes" can activate different colors but if you tell it to enable "Colormix" it gets confused. Colormix is one of the selectable options
9. I thought all 2020 CLAs had that touchless interface where it would detect your hand so that you didn't have to touch the screen if you're driving. I'm not sure how to activate it or if it's a required package which doesn't come with my vehicle (will look into this).
10. Rear view mirror looks really cheap (same as when I owned the MY18 CLA and MY19 C300)
12. Placement of CarPlay port is not optimal. It should have been placed similar to how they did it in the C300. When you plug in the USB C to USB adapter is sticks up (you risk eventually bending the connector and possibly damaging the port itself due to stress.
13. TBD

The Good:

1. Pretty good daily driver and I have complaints on the ride feel.
2. Seats are comfortable but on long drives they aren't (similar seats from when I owned my 2018 CLA250
3. Car looks great (aside from those ugly bumper caps)
4. Nice big trunk space makes Costco runs a bit easier
5. TBD

#3: Yup, delayed until at least January 2020 production.
#9: That's an added option called MBUX Interior Assist. That too is delayed, until at least December 2019 production.

Both delays are mentioned in the Dealer Ordering Guide.

If you're wondering about interior driving/feature sett, just look at the A220's, it's identical just about. That's what I have, but I've had nothing but problems and am going to try to work something out with MB to see if they can swap me with a CLA (which is what I really wanted orignally, but got tired of waiting) or they can get sued and I'll take my business elsewhere.

My A-class has had exploded sunroof. fit/finish issues. thermostat issues, now throttle response issues after I moved from Texas to California. And now my *new* sunroof + sunshade doesn't even open as of today.

Still have all the above issues. It's pretty garbage and I hope the CLA is a bit more refined as when it's on the highway it's a great car and I love the interior of it. But holy hell it's a piece of crap since it was built in Mexico, not knocking on them, but the QC of the vehicle should have been left to teenagers building it.

They are touting all the manufacturing improvements with the new CLA (link), so hopefully it will be of better quality.

If it was built in hungary, I wouldn't be concerned. The mexico plant for the A-Class just is not producing quality at all. I'd love to get into the new CLA, but I doubt this will work in my favor and more than likely Mercedes has lost a customer for life and more than likely others cause I won't recommend them if they can't make it right.

I will also mention that the leather on the seats in my CLA has loose areas.. There are little loose areas in the part where you sit the back of your thighs on. The leather isn't nice and tight as you would see in the C-Class, etc. I will snap a picture and upload it so you folks can see what I'm talking about. I originally ordered the A220 but it arrived damaged and lo and behold the CLA (which is what I really wanted) became available to order so I opted for that model.

What does your VIN start with? I didn't think there were any Mexico built Mercedes coming into the US.

Don't have it on hand, but the door panel even says "Built in Mexico" on it.

These may be the only ones, I'm not sure.

As for the leather. Just take it to the dealer and what they will do is use a heat gun to restretch the leather appropriately. This is something that's common on a lot of newer vehicles these days. My 2019 Ram 1500 had same issue when I first bought it and it was an easy fix.

Could also be regional, if you're closer or something.

Here are the pictures. As an FYI, I only have about 200 miles on the car. Nobody has ever sat in the backseat.

where you CLA build?

the MBUX on my A250, do open the panorama for me, but yes, it can not open/close windows, and here in Canada, Live Traffic is included which is super helpful, many cases, the Nav system help me to by pass the traffic jam. ^_^ and the nav also notice me if accident/road work/strong cross wind ahead. which is super helpful too, the Nav system is best of the best i have ever see.

It opened the glass sunroof? you know, so the air comes in, and you can reach your hand outside in the open. Not just the roller sunblinds, big difference

I was told by MB dealer that MBUX could not actually open glass because of safety issues.

I'd love to see a video of that. Great if it works for you, but that's not supposed to happen. MBUX isn't supposed to open any GLASS in the vehicle for safety reasons. The sunblind, yes.. but not the actual sunroof itself.

Overall Verdict for c300 Vs CLA?

Hey man can I ask which CLA model did you buy? Was it the CLA35? Since I saw some AMG lettering on the floor mats in the attached pictures you posted...

I was considering to buy either the CLA 35 or C300.

I like the sound (pops and crackles) from the CLA35 engine in sport mode and the fact that it is AMG.

But at the same time also like the bigger interior space of the C300 and its front look.

The CLA has 306 hp and C300 has 241 hp.

Prices are about the same as well in my area... Which would you choose? Did you regret purchasing the CLA?

also, did you manage to fix the loose leather back seats?

Is the C class ride more comfortable or CLA?

thanks so much and look forward to hearing from you!
