Problem! 😱

Yesterday we drove from Bicester to Dover (UK) and from Calais (FR) into Belgium. On the M25 in the UK and again somewhere on the E40 in France the car suddenly, with no warning, declared that all Driver Assistance functions were offline. Some photos follow. In both cases I pulled over at motorway services as the faults persisted, and switched the car off then on again. Both times this cleared the problem. Road and weather conditions were good, it was daylight and the sensors looked clean to me.

I have written to the Dealer asking that their Service Department can [hopefully] download some logs to investigate the issue. Awaiting a reply as I would also prefer to visit one of their branches closer to me than their main branch who supplied the car. Will go with whatever they request of course.

The car remained fully drivable but it is disconcerting to say the least to know that all the preemptive safety and warning systems are no longer operational.

Photos follow; anyone experienced anything like this?

I have driver assistance systems go offline all the time with bad weather on multiple brands (BMW, MB). I don't even bother as this usually happens due to sensors giving incorrect readings that trip up the system. Same was likely the case with pre-safe plus as it uses the some of the same sensors/cameras to read. I would be concerned only if this was in good, dry weather. With rain, snow, slush, ice or cold weather, even fog some of that can cause that.

That a restart cleared the error seems likely related to a sensor condition. The not ready to drive message is also typical of Mercedes overly careful wording. Neither systems are essential to normal driving.

Good luck!

I concur that driving per se was not impacted, but the loss of primary safety systems isn't cool. Conditions were perfectly fine, as stated, so I do not find it acceptable that it is a routine issue. Therefore I will be pressing MB about this.

I had given your post a quick read and overlooked the weather comment.
Agree that this should be checked out. Please keep us posted.
I just had a similar failure in bad weather; am just used to the sensitivity of the systems.

In your case there should hopefully a stored code…

Waiting for a response from the Dealer and will probably give them a call this afternoon.

I bought a Carly adapter and subscription a while back for my previous C-Class. When I tried it on the CLA it reported No ECUs found, but then I did have to tell the app that it was another EV as the CLA EV was not listed in their database! Carly Customer Support confirmed that the car is not [yet] supported and gave no response when asked when it will be. I have not yet got around to trying one of my other more basic OBD-II adapters and Torque or another of my various apps. But I doubt there will be any improvement. So reading a code is definitely going to be a Dealer job. Inconvenient but the car is under warranty and a Company Car so no actual cost to me.
