Possible Limp home mode?

Hi all I need some advice?

A Class Semi Auto 53 Reg. Has been driving fine, went down the road and all of a sudden it wouldnt go. NO warning lights, nothing on dash board.

Managed to get it going, but it was doing some seriously high revs to do 10MPH. Hubby got home and looked at it and took it out.

He put it into semi auto mode, and it went straight into 4th gear. Called RAC put it on the computer and it showed loads of codes. One of them was 200A. He cleared all of the codes and it drove fine.....for 5 seconds. then it went straight back to the same issue. RAC put it on the laptop again and the only fault that came back was 200a.

I dont think he had a clue but ive got even less of an idea. Any help would be really apreciated. I dont want to take to MB and them to say its £2k for a new gearbox if i can take it to my local guy for him to just sort out the chip etc?

Thanks in advance
