I mean in performance. I know the look is different. Would an A 220 AMG Line be any quicker off the line, for example, or any other performance-related difference? Or is it only a styling thing?

However, you should know that the AMG brakes are very grabby and require featherfoot operation.

You do get the Sport-S mode which does make the vehicle feel more responsive and more tuned, but it doesn't give you more horsepower or faster acceleration. I do like the regular sport mode quite a bit and the Sport S is even better from the ones I drove.

i have the AMG package because I really like the styling. Haven't found the brakes grabby but I have a very light foot so maybe that is why (usually my cars go 100,000 miles before brake pads need replacing). Acceleration is the same but honestly I rarely use the faster mode (only when I need a quick pass or have to go through a green light that doesn't last long), 99% of the time I'm in comfort or economy mode getting fantastic mileage.

Not sure what direct steer is but I can say the steering is phenomenal in my car, never had an automobile that is so responsive and natural to drive.
