Fs 2003 Sl500 With Extras

I am half way serious about giving up my baby. I am willing to hear any serious offers.

She has Pewter exterior/Ash interior, Pano roof, AMG sport package, Xenon headlights, Keyless Go, Hands free phone, 10,000 miles.

Ive added a few extras:

--Kleemann Supercharger done by Donnie Drummond in Atlanta
--Kleemann Lowering Module
--XM radio with stealth install in ashtray and hidden antenna
--Escort SR7 Radar with Laser detector stealth install above steering column
--DVD player which will work while vehicle is moving
--HRE 19" 540R wheels with PZero Rosso tires
--Clear bra on front end and hood
--Chrome grill and fins

Make me an offer I cant refuse.

i'm quite surprised to see that with all these fancy upgrades, especially the enhanced engine upgrades that the brakes were left to stock....

stopping fast should be more important then going fast... IMHO

This really has been discussed to death...

bigger brakes won't really help you stop faster, they'll help you stop after repeated excuse. Stock SL500 brakes are well enough to lock the wheels when slammed.

well... better brakes will definitely enhance the braking performance...

on the extreme side, compare the brakes of an SLR/Enzo/GT with all it ceramic components, to that of the SL stockers....

for the SL, from 60mph-0, it will take est. 110 feet to stop...
for the SLR, they have shown it to be able to go from 120mph-0 in less than 120 feet...

now, can you honestly tell me that bigger & better brakes aren't gonna improve stopping power?

The SLR weighs considerably less as well as probably a hundred different things that make it stop faster...

I'm not going to say it doesn't improve stopping power, but will it improve stopping power so much of a difference an extra 100hp or however much he's got thanks to the supercharger warrents?
I wouldn't say so.

There are a lot of things you can do to try to increase stopping power. But when you can already lock your brakes, don't you think that just getting bigger brakes is kinda redundent?

i won't argue that the stock brakes are good, but, better is better...

whether a set of upgraded brakes stop 1" shorter or 10' shorter... shorter is shorter, and how short you stop is the difference between having your car in 1 piece, or having your hood inside someone's trunk... thats all i'm trying to say

You're absolutely right. Short is always shorter, and bigger brakes can help. But will the amount they will help stopping shorter be significant? Not really. On the Kleemann C55, the Kleemann brakes stopped 6ft shorter...

And for the original reason you stated, just because he has a bunch of go fast mods, those don't necessarily warrant a BBK. (Although, that'd be sick. )

true true... go fast mods don't necessarily mean you need an upgraded BBK... but com'on...

who are we kidding? you don't buy a fast car or slap on go fast mods to drive in a subdued manner.... you are gonna want to tap the pedal and see the images in the rearview disappear, if not all the time, at least once in a while

and well, where there is fast throttle response, you need fast braking response when other cars on the road don't realize you want to bolt from 60-100 in the next lane as they are changing lanes... and thats when you will need better brakes....

in your example, 6ft shorter to me is quite shorter... thats like half a car length... how much more stopping power do you need in order for it to be "significant"? instant???

UPDATE:

I forgot to add that I have an Eisenmann exhaust to go with the car. I had it on for a while but took it off. It is in good shape.

Still no offers yet.

She has about 500 Hp. I have a dyno I can post if anyone is interested.

Dont really know. I had a Car Stereo Guy do it when the car was in Atlanta getting the supercharger. It works when I hit the blank button on the center console (on the left). It doesnt have the TV tuner.

Still For Sale

I decided to definitely sell my SL500.

I have it up on Ebay SL500 but havent had much response. Reserve is low 70's.

I am upgrading to 2007 SL55 on order and dealer will give me a decent KBB trade in value without the SC or Wheels, so I can sell those off later.

Miles are now a bit over 12K. I refurbed the wheels which are perfect and have new PS's on now.

Make me an offer!
