2006 E55
2006 E55 Lease Assumption
My wife decided to volunteer me for carpool duty so it looks like I need to get rid of my E55 sedan for either a GL450 or an E55 Wagon. My 2006 E55 sedan is Flint Gray with Charcoal Interior and Black Birdseye Maple. Optioned with Premium Pkge with Pano, Keyless Go, Lighting Pkge, Trunk Closer, and Sirius. I have also added OEM SL65 wheels with PS2 tires. A retail value of well over $6k. The car currently has 6,300 miles on it. The lease has 21 months and 23,700 miles left to use (Approx. 13,500 annually). Monthly payment of $1,561.02 ($1448.74 payment + $112.28 sales tax). Sales tax is 7.75% in my market. Please adjust the tax amount based on where you live. Two options to choose from on the lease transfer. Take the lease over at the current payment amount and keep the OEM SL65 wheels/tires AND the stock OEM E55 wheels/tires or I keep the OEM SL65 wheels/tires and provide an incentive of $3,500. This would make the effective lease payment $1,381.44 ($1282.08 payment + 99.36 taxes). I will also pick up the lease transfer costs with MB Financial of $300 with either option. Please PM me with any questions or interest. Thanks!

Yeah, sorry...MB has once again given you the heavy reach around. They were offering such a low money factor, in January 2006 I believe, that leases on the E55 went from $1400ish/month down to $890/month...the most amazing decrease in lease price I've ever seen. Almost pulled the trigger myself the numbers were so low. And that didn't include anything funky on the selling price or down payment...just insanely low money factor and a bumped up residual. That said, it's essentially equivalent to a dealer selling an '06 S65 right now for $170k...might get lucky with someone who doesn't know anything about the market, or you might sit on it for a loooong time. $1,100-$1,200 (including tax)/month with the 65 wheels is probably where you need to be to unload it, IMHO. It's really an issue of the lease assumer saving the down payment, having a shorter lease, and saving on certain taxes. That's the upside. Downside, you can lease an E63 cheaper, worry that the car might have issues caused by you when assumer goes to turn the car in.

2006 E55
PV1- Their is very little magic in a lease. Pick how many months you want it for and how much mileage you need and plug in the numbers. I picked up this car for $1,800 over invoice, at the buy rate of .00340 with a residual value of 60%. Nothing wrong with that deal. The same deal for an 07 E63 today would use a buy rate of .00370 and a residual of 63%. You may be able to save bit more on the price of the E63 because demand is so weak. It all depends on your preference. E55 or E63. BTW, if you know of an 06 SL55 with 24 months and plenty of mileage left on the lease at $1,500 a month, please let me know. I might take it. That is steal!
CylinderHead- Spill the beans. Give us some details. I have a hard time believing his payment on a properly optioned 06 E55 with 24 or so months left on the lease is half of mine. Unless he put one heck of a cap cost reduction down (dumb) or is driving a stripped down Barolo Red that the dealer could not wait to get off his lot.
Peebs- You speak with some lease knowledge. I picked up my car in Oct 05. The lease deal you are referred to was in Spring 06. I think for 3 months. It was a great deal. I ended up putting my father in law in one because of it. The lease payment amount you referenced was for a stripped E55 with a cap cost reduction. The typical payment was more in the $1,100 to $1,300 with a properly optioned car in a desirable color. That deal is obviously no longer available but the tough part would be to find someone who wants out of such a fantastic deal. Kind of wishful thinking but you never know. The e63 is definitely an option if that is the way you are leaning. Again, do you want an E55 or E63? As for this car, the car looks great, has been serviced correctly, and runs flawlessly. The only issue to date was a loose COMAND wire that had to be plugged back in. Anyone seriously looking at the car should consider running the VIN at a dealer to see what has been serviced and do an inspection if they like. I have no problem with either. The full warranty is in effect for remaining lease term. Thanks!

Yeah, you will never get someone to take over that lease without offering a HUGE cash incentive! Giving someone the option of 65 wheels for 3500.00 wont help and it may actually hurt your efforts. I would put the stock wheels back on and offer 8-10K incentive and sell the 65 wheels to make some $$$ back! Some may veiw putting on 65 wheels on a NON 65 car or even model that does not have a 65 line as cheezy! Again, it may hurt you getting rid of th car and require a special buyer!

The $890/month lease I looked at was for a $92k sticker car. Pretty darn fully loaded car that they were selling for several grand behind invoice. You might be right on the timing of that...can't quite recall the date. I think the money factor was 1.9% if memory serves and residual was in the 63-65% range for a 36 month lease. Concept remains...MB killed their buyers who weren't lucky enough to cash in on the huge savings.
Selling the 65 wheels outright is a good idea...I agree with that suggestion as a way to save $$.

Thanks for the input guys. I put it up on swapalease so we will see if there is any interest. I will think about putting the stock wheels back on. I figured this board would prefer the SL65 wheels. They actually were a factory accessory in Europe on an E55. For whatever legal reason, MBUSA cannot get approval from the mothership to put 19"s on an E. The upcoming 030 performance package for the E63 will still have 18"s.
Peebs- I think the advertised deal was for $999 which included prem pkge no pano and lighting pkge and a cap cost reduction. The buy rate was either .00125 or .00150. I would have to dig my father in law's lease out. But like you said, it sort of screwed the folks that were not able to take advantage of it.
If there is no interest I might just end up keeping it and picking up a slightly used GL450 or the new X5 to cover for those days. We'll see.
