I'm helping a fellow MBCA member sell these. He is a very experienced racer with many championships and records. He had a race and show winning C43 that was just an amazing car. As he was literally on his way to have these installed on his car, when he was t-boned at an intersection. Luckily he was fine, but his beloved C43 was totaled.
He is very keen on a C43 enthusiast coming into possession of these shocks. I'll let him speak for them - his words on what these are.
RENNTech Koni Adjustable shocks.
"These shocks show the extent that you can go to, to get what isn't available as a purely "off the shelf" product. The shocks are Koni 8042 series. This is their "Sport" double-adjustable (both compression and rebound.) Low pressure gas....they are externally adjustable (both adjustments) with just a twist.... overall, some of their very best stuff.
The suggested retail on these series shocks is just under $800/pair.
You're already out $1600, and you still have a big problem! They don't make these for Mercedes. So what can you do? You can go to TrueChoice, which is an officially-authorized Koni service (and warranty) station. (Ohio.) Their stickers are on each shock.
I've worked with them before, they'll take what's closest off the shelf and begin the arduous task of modifying to suit your application. Since Koni does make single adjustable shocks for the CLK/C Class, they know all the various dimensions, etc. Just to be sure, I had RENNTech handle all this. They started with 8042-1026 & 8042-1134 as the easiest shock bodies to work with. Like anything in life, when you're doing custom work it ain't cheap. It nearly doubles the cost. But? At least you're left with a product that can be serviced and rebuilt, since it's made from real Koni parts.
Very trick, and obviously this took a lot of time as well. After all this effort and expense, some C-Benz enthusiast should have these, and enjoy them. The actual bill for these? Just under $3k/set.Hey, I know I'm screwed (like the whole way that great car...what was the MBCA 2004 USA Champion car... is now m.i.a.) How about 40% off?! $1,800? Like I said, I never even mounted them, looked at them for the first time today, they're just like they came from TrueChoice (via RENNTech.)"
They show some scuffs which are an effect of being customized by RENNTech/TrueChoice, but they are brand new direct from RENNTech, and were only removed from the box after I told him that people would want pictures of them.
So $1800+shipping to be paid by the buyer.
Please feel free to email me at bifpowell@gameonthestreet.com with questions. Most payment methods will work, details to be determined upon sale.

These shocks sound interesting. What other information do you have on them? I'm in the process of building a C43 for SCCA Solo and DE's.

I'll track down the technical specifications and post them here.

I am sure they are nice. But: why pay double when you can revalve them yourself to your own specs. These are USA made, not from Koni Holand. Truechoice does similar tuning to what ProParts does on the West coast. Bilstein does the same thing. Send them your shocks, any style in their catolgue and they will revalve them for $55.00 each. If you know what you want, this is the way to go. If you want someone else to do the thinking, they pay through the nose. Not a bad proposition, but an expensive one. Why is the owner of these shocks not posting a thread on these? And why is the RENNtech logo not on these? RENNtech will usually partner with a company and label them as there own. Other RENNtech shock are painted Red, not Yellow. Are these parts on their catologue or were these a one off? Interesting offering and commend the purchaser for making the effort.
These are one-off custom shocks ordered by this experienced racer through RENNTech, since he and RENNTech have some history. If you are curious about why you would buy these instead of going the route you suggest and why they are the color they are, please PM me your contact information and I will pass it on.
As far as why the owner is not posting these...he doesn't have any experience using message boards and I offered to help him out. If the intimation in that regard is that all is not on the up-and-up, I'm sure I can find many references on this board and several other boards, who will vouch for me, please let me know if that is a hold-up for you.
Thanks!
