2002 S55 AMG for sale

I am selling my 2002 S55. The car is in like new condition. I have the Starmark Premium warranty that is good until 11/09 or 100k miles. The car had about 33k miles and is loaded with all the goodies. The integrated phone was converted by the dealer to work with Verizon. My uncle bought the car new for $105,380 ($116,357 including the warranty, taxes, and tags). I am asking $36,900 or best offer. The car is located in Northern VA.

for 5yrs...70k isn't too bad for a six figure MB (no offense)...on another note..the CL and S 65's basically lost 80k (almost 1/2 their price) in about 2 years...let's see what happens when they're 5 years old

These cars take the biggest hit in the first 3 years (just like most cars). It just looks worse when a $100k car looses 1/2 it's value vs. a $20k loosing the same. The people that buy these cars new can afford the depreciation.

looks nice...very clean.
i just bought my 2002 S55 last month and enjoying it very much.
silver/blk w/ vented seats, parking, distronic, and also rear massager.
it had 91k miles and was MB dealer serviced, but it was also much less money.

in the SF area, high mileage ones going for $25-30k and lower mileage $30-35k+. the tough part is that the 03 S55s are starting to come down into the $30k-ish range so it makes it tougher for the 02's w/o the supercharger to hold up its resale value.

good luck.

Thanks for the heads up. Congratulations on the new car. I check around, and there are only 2 S55's in a 200 mile radius of me that are cheaper......they both have more than twice the mileage of mine and do not have warranties. Knowing what it can cost to fix one of these cars, a two year full coverage warranty is a pretty big deal (at least to me).

I have had two gentlemen seriously inquire about my car, but neither has made me a real offer yet. I have told both of them that I will take $36,000 for the car, but that price is non-negotiable. I think that is an extremely fair price for a low mileage S55 AMG with a full 2 years left of factory premium warranty. Feel free to call my cell at (703)201-5566 if you have any questions.

Low miles warrants that price at the dealer auctions like Mannheim but on the buyers market $36k will get you a supercharged 03 s55 with about 50k miles these days. nice clean car with low miles but if you try for $30-32k you should be able to find a buyer. not trying to bash your sale or anything just some advice from a guy that knows his stuff.

Are you saying my car is worth more being wholesaled at Manheim than it is on the private market? While I appreciate the advice, I'm not sure where you are finding cars that cheap. There are 64 2003 S55's nationwide on Autotrader.com. Of those, there are only 6 priced below $39,000......of those 6 cars only two of them are below $37,895 (which has 66k miles). The cheapest car was priced at $31,990 (89,507 miles) and is advertised as the cheapest 2003 S55 in the country. Without doing any real research, I'm willing to bet that car has a blimish on it's Carfax....most likely rebuilt or a buyback.

With all that said, maybe I shouldn't have said $36k was my rock bottom price. I'd be willing to entertain any real offers. Keep in mind my car has a warranty......as you know, even a two year warranty on one of these cars is big bucks.....personally, I couldn't afford one of these cars without a warranty.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

IMO...if it's not a 55k aka 2003+ S55...you won't be able to command as much money as you'd like...many would prefer just buying an 03 S500 with lower miles and do without the extra 47hp from the 02 S55's

Maybe....this is my first MB so I am far from knowledgeable about the differences. Don't the S500's have airmatic vs. ABC for the AMG's and S600's? Isn't a factory warranty on an S class worth anything? I want to price my car fairly, but I can't afford to give it away.

MB, BMW
looks like a clean car, g'luck w/ sale. sounds like you're not in a hurry to sell though. hopefully you'll find a buyer.

fyi, if you think your asking price is fair for the car - don't ever go to your dealer for a tradein quote.. you'll faint..

I think you are pretty close to a fair price on the car at 36k. That 2 extra years of warranty is huge, you have relatively low miles and all service records. Even if there are two cars priced lower, yours will stand out as the better buy

Like I always say depreciation only matter to people that can't afford it.

I have an 04 with 15k on the clock waiting for me in NY for 43k. I am going to pick it up when I get back up there, either that or a S65 not sure which the guy has one of each ready to go. The price is my price only as I do a lot of buying and trading back in to this dealer.

Lowest price yet....$34,000 firm. If I can't get that for the car I will keep the thing. Insurance is due in Jan. so I'd like to sell the car before that.
