WTB: XM & 8500 installer around NYC area
I'm looking to get my XM Roady and Escort 8500 permanently mounted on my W208. Does anybody have any recommendations for installers around NYC that can get this done? I want this to be as professional as possible (cable routing, mounting, etc).
I know there's gotta be somebody around here that either does this or knows somebody that does, and I'd much rather trust the pros that are recommended here than the donkeys at the dealership (if they even do some of this stuff).
Any ideas about how long it would take or how much it would cost would also be appreciated...
Thanks

I installed my 8500 with the strait hardwired cable you can buy on escorts web site. My Clarion Sirius radio was installed in the second din position under the radio. They are both hardwired into the stock mercedes radio in the illumination wire, so they turn on when I start the car, and turn off when my dash turns off after I turn off the car.

As far as XM, I can probably drop the Roady and get another tuner, but I wasn't really planning on it right now... just looking for some way to mount it that's clean(er) than the way it is now. I'm not familiar with the Clarion that you have... are you using a modulator or did you hack the radio somehow? I'm obviously looking for the least amount of permanent damage to the car in case I want to upgrade later...

On my 208 I had the XM Commander and the display for the SR-7 remote radar installed where the ashtray is supposed to be and it's a perfect fit. It works out great because you can still close the ashtray cover and hide it all. I don't have any pics but if it could help someone I can try and find a digital camera.
