Do some work and drive this premier elegant car for WAY LE$$ than what you would pay from a dealer or private party. Remember, the car has a CLEAN TITLE w/ no salvage or flood history recorded.

Yes, the car is still under factory MB Warranty. MB will not repair a car that show signs of being in a flood. Believe me, I woud've had MB repair the car long time ago if that wasn't the case. Car needs to have electronics (mentioned above) replaced. It needs about 5hrs in work for the stuff that MB will not warranty for sure.
As for the 2004 E55 on Ebay, it sold for $45 or 48k if it's the same one we're talking about. Car was in a fresh water flood.

I find this a little contradicting. "The car is still under warranty" .. YET... MB will not repair a car that show signs of being in a flood. So it is safe to assume that the warranty is VOIDED?
I am very interested, but need facts straightened out and need to know what I'm getting into. Also, regarding the parts needed to fix the problems... do you have the parts or no? Thanks in advance.Rob

I have some of the parts and will help in what way I can to get this beauty back to 100%. I'm not trying to pull a fast one on anyone. There is another option of purchasing a wrecked S55 AMG as a parts car since it has many interchangeable parts w/ the CL. This CL500 is pretty close to being a CL55 (minus the gauge cluster and the obvious 5.5L).

Remember: you get what you paid for!
Ugly, but true!
Seems like a good deal to me...
Fresh water...smels forever,
salt water... don't
Garys
If this car was in salt water I wouldnt touch it... If it was fresh water then it might be ok..
Ya know, my wife's SLK could have been considered a "flood car" ... she drove it through what had become a =pond= in the road during a Nor-Easter the =1st= weekend we owned it! (it was leased)
I was at home. She went food shopping. Coming home, dum dee dum dum dum...
boy this rain is hard ... whoosh!!! ...into a newly formed pond in the flooded out road due to the amount of rain. The old SLK had air intakes real low near the ground in the front air damn. She said water went over the hood like a big wave. So I realized water got into the intake and stalled the car. Wouldn't start. Car's interior [floor & seats] got soaked from having the doors open while the firemen pushed the car out of the road ["pond"], kicking more water into the car while they pushed it.When I got there, engine had dried out enough so I could start it. But as soon as I started up the big hill I needed to go up to get home, it started sputtering and stalled. I surmised the air-box was full of water and every time I'd accelorate (especially when going up a hill), water would run back into the intake and cause it to stall.
...if we were weenies, we could have called insurance and they might have considered it a "minor flood" car.
I eventually got up the hill, went into a parking lot, and blew out the engine with some hi-rpm passes. When we got home, I took off the airbox and dried it out, and we dried out the interior with a wet/dry vacuum, towels, then driers then those de-humidifier containers.
Like I said, that was the =1st= weekend we owned the car. It was great for the rest of the lease. No hint of problems in the engine or interior from the water. It was like it never happened. If the new SLK wasn't better in every way, I would have taken over the lease and kept the car.
...so just say'n again ... it's very possible for a "minor flood car" to "ain't be no thing".
