A V8 is hard to beat though but it (the Lexus V8) is not quite like a Mercedes V8, I do agree the CLE 53 makes a lot of sense in terms of a balance of everything. I am glad MB didn't give up the coupe market yet even if it is about merging the C and E coupe. I mean, competitors like bmw only has the C-class equivalent coupe now.

And isn’t Audi killing off the 2 door A/S/RS5 coupe also?

Audi made the platform less desirable. It feels downright cheap now. The original RS5 looked aggressive and had a special interior plus the v8…

4.1 sec is the listed spec from MB. 0-100 kph has already been clocked at 3.52 sec. 0-60 mph was clocked at 3.80.
Basically M3/M4 comp levels 💨.

So MB claimed the CLE 53 at 4.1. Who clocked the vehicle at 3.52? Did they also clock the M3/M4 comp? What did BMW claim the M3/M4 comp is at?

That seems to be an outlier. All other testing shows it around 4.0 to 62. Which is incredibly respectable

I had the M3 comp x drive. The comp RWD BMW claims 3.8. For x drive 3.4. I was able to get 3.1 in mine if conditions were optimal. I highly doubt a 3.5 in the CLE… but I suppose if the hybrid battery is ready to go and conditions are perfect… it’s at least 500 lbs heavier than the M4 comp RWD and has less torque and HP.

Yes, 4s is very quick especially for such a heavy car. The quickness at speed is very good, and I think as fast or faster than the M3/4 in certain situations where the hybrid fills the turbo lag gap in the M. Above 70 the M3/4 will be faster. It’s a car built for the track while the CLE is better on the daily and more enjoyable imho.

0- 60 / 0-100 Clocks

Here's the post that clocked 3.52 0-100 kph.

3.80 0-60 mph was clocked by RBR drive review.

I see, those are very healthy numbers.

I had an interesting and confusing visit with a dealership today. I went to this dealership because it had cars on the lot in my top 3 choices(Patagonia Red, Magno Grey and Alpine Grey. It had no CLE53s on hand but at least I got to see the colors in person in sunlight. The PR is not as dark as I would like but darker than I was led to believe. The AG was kind of meh as I much prefer a metallic color. The MG Matte is very sexy but the salesman discouraged me from that color. He claims the Matte Grey should not go through automatic car washes(even touchless). That it needed to be handwashed to prevent damage. He also stated the Matte grey could not be blended when fixing damages and that whole panels would have to be repainted.

I also asked about Ipackets I have seen that had charges for both Night Packages and both heated steering wheel and the Amg wheel. Most Ipackets do not have both charged. He said one comes first then the other. He explained this by saying the Ipackets are prepared by private contractors and are not uniform.

He estimated delivery from today to be 2.5-3 months. He also confirmed the 2025 base price to be $74,300. An increase of $1500.

I will be going to my local dealership next week to see what they have to say.

If the video shows the 0-60 figures in order like the rest of the vid, is the Merc 3.4 0-60?

I just received a call back from my local dealership. I had inquired about a discount on ordering a CLE 53. They informed me there would be no discount because the vehicle was coming directly from the manufacturer and the dealership would never own the car so they had no way to discount it. Is the dealership counting on my rampant naivete or is there something about the relationship between Mercedes and their dealer network that I do not understand? This sounds like total BS.

Lol, that is a lie. Some dealers won't discount custom orders though, but others do.

I have found that generally, when a custom order is made on a readily available car (via one dealer or another), the opportunity for a discount usually surfaces. The issue I have experienced when shopping for a GT63, my CLE53, and other popular cars is that initially, allocations aren't unlimited, and dealers believe they can sell the few they get at sticker. I ended up buying a car ordered by someone who opted three months into the wait to buy a GT63 instead. It was offered to me at sticker - take it or leave it. A few people tried to pay a premium to buy it out from underneath me. I'm sure it would have sold to someone else in a day for I hesitated. Of course, that will change with added quantities. I also learned supply chain issues aren't totally resolved, and some optional equipment may be unavailable for ordering. The same thing happened when I ordered a 2019 GLE 450. Not long after placing my order, specific interior options and the air suspension disappeared from my build, and the wait time increased. I ended up buying a different car. The issue, as you note, isn't an MB mandated policy, but rather just the desire to get full profit on a hot car. If we were discussing one of their electric dogs, I doubt this would be the case.

Yes that is clearly a lie, floorplanning is still happening and dealership rents the vehicle from MBUSA until it is sold and they incur interest if it is not sold.

Ya custom ordering does result in discounts especially back in the European Delivery days.
