Strange clicking noise from back of CLE53
It appeared 2 weeks post delivery.

not sure what to make of this new generation of vehicles. Will own my first as of tomorrow.
Fwiw, the professional reviews of the CLE 53 have been overwhelmingly positive - more so than other vehicles I evaluated.
this clicking noise is pretty bad. Hope that was just a new model design flaw and they will work out in successive model years
Hello McFly, are you out there? Or is it Otto or Marlene? Read, empathize, respond.
So much good customer relations could be had right here, for very little effort.
I'll leave this with my modified JOKE:
MB: "Vee are Mertcedes Bens, und vee built zee finest automobiles in zee verld, und you vill like it."
Me: "Well, I'll buy a Mercedes for the prestige value, but I won't like it."
Disclaimer: I own a 2024 CLE53 and I LOVE it, DESPITE a few foibles. Nothing is perfect but I have had exemplary service from my dealer here in Huntington NY. It is however, a sad state of affairs to hear that some owners are having serious issues.
C'mon MB, get on the ball, reach out these people with SOMETHING; answers, help, or where to get them.

Yes, we should sometimes voice ourselves, not sure how much out opinions matter on surveys sent by market research companies like JD power on your purchase.
I drove the 2024 for a total of 8 to 9 months! I decided to order a new vehicle with some added features and got the 2025 fully loaded. I was able to keep the 2024 until the new one arrived.
Shortly after I got the 2025 I noticed the same clicking noise I had heard before. I brought it in for service and they found the issue in the rear axle area. They replaced both rear axle shafts with updated parts and did an alignment check. The clicking noise is now gone.

Now that it has come back I did some more research and found that Mercedes issued an updated version of the bulletin earlier this year:
- Bulletin No.: LI35.30-P-058566 (Version 7)
- Date: January 15, 2025
- Subject: Throttle lift-off clunking noises at drive shafts of rear axle
- Cause: Microweld cracking occurs between the wheel bearing inner race and the side shaft joint housing which leads to the clicking and clunking noises.
- Updated fix: Instead of simply replacing the axles the procedure now requires removing both rear side shafts, coating the contact surface with Molykote low-friction paint (A000-989-01-52-10) and reinstalling them. The outboard collar nut has to be replaced if loosened.
I brought the new bulletin to my service advisor and he said he would forward this information to his shop foreman.
I’ll update this thread again once the repair is completed with the updated fix and share whether it finally takes care of the issue.
