Of course, at first, I was wondering what they’ve been doing with the car for the past week if they don’t know what or where the issue is. Second, why give me the update I received a few days ago, where I was told they were inspecting the car front to back? That essentially means they didn’t even know what they were looking for.

Anyway, I drove over, and they pulled out my car (which was filthy, of course, as it’s clearly been sitting outside). It took me simply switching to drive for the noise to be evident. If that wasn’t enough, I took it around the corner, drove at low speeds, replicated the sounds by accelerating slightly, and even reversed.

The tech now claims to know what to do but once again refused to let me send them this forum or contact one of the dealers who have successfully solved the issue. Until then, the garage stays cle-less lol.
Urgh that's so frustrating! I feel your pain, as I had my car for 2 weeks and It needed a software update because of glitching screens. They held onto it for 1 whole week I was so annoyed because I already came from a lemon. Hopefully you get it resolved soon. Please keep us posted. My car has the same issue but haven't taken it in yet.

Looks like a similar fix to mine. Took things apart and added anti friction paste. I hope this is a long term fix.

I called in yesterday to see what the deal was and if I would be getting it and they said that due to Mercedes Benz procedure they can't inspect the rear axle right away they have to go down some sort of list one by one from the front of the car to the back... even though the issue is in the rear axle? Definitely annoying but its good to see all of you guys getting your cars back no issue!

Keep us posted.
Did you notice the noise from day one?
What year is yours and what's your production date?
amg_53 can you pls address my questions...picking my '25 up at the end of the month and need to know Thx

So as I suspected, bolts not having anything to do with the actual fix as it was just the anti-friction paste which is indeed a bit concerning for the longer term.

I'll post my worksheet when I pick my car up tomorrow but the SA and tech agreed with this forum thread and said the rear axel parts needed a lubrication process applied to it. I'm assuming the anti friction paste everyone has mentioned here. I referenced this thread and all of the work sheets from past repairs on here and she was so open to reading and seeing all of the posts. Highly recommend Encino MB in LA for this quick fix for this issue. Very fast, very receptive to research/notes and quality service. Can't wait to pick up the car in the morning!

For sure! Doubt she'll know though. I was her first CLE53 she's had in with this issue. Will check anyway to see if she has extra intel.

Question - is everyone with a 53 having this issue? and for those not, what is your production date and mileage?

That is really great. My MB service center in O.C. scoffed at the forum until I made a big deal about it. Curious to see your worksheet @ryzi

Yeah, 10/10 customer service at Encino. Got the car back now, uploading everything in the next hour or 2!

Glad it's done, hopefully no collateral damage to the wheels when they were removed (inspected the lug holes carefully on the rims). Were you able to ask what the range was of affected vehicles?

Thanks man! No damage thankfully. They didn't have any ideas on the range of models effected!

Glad to hear. I was curious of the vin/production range for CLE 53’s being affected not if other models were.

To those of you who've had this rattling sound fixed: has the issue come back since having it fixed?
It looks like my car is starting to have this issue at 1500 km/900 miles.

It hasn't happened returned yet, but I'm concerned this 'fix' won't last. Anti-friction paste seems like a band-aid. If it comes back, hopefully MB will have a real solution by then. This must be a common issue at service centers worldwide. Even though this particular model is somewhat unique they must have plenty of data about the issue at this point.
By the way, go to 7:46 of this recent video by a car reviewer driving a 2025 model. You hear that dreaded clinking when he launches. It still makes me cringe.

Since I started that topic , and you all might have missed that. My CLE was clicking untill around 5000km aka 3000 miles , then it sudennly stopped. If you car dealer can not solve this quickly I would recommend to just drive untill it breaks or stops , because those guys have literally no clue what to do . Untill MB wont do broader service recall its just silly what they are trying to do , they can put lube in their .... maybe this will help :>

I guess we can call that part of the break-in process

Odd. It almost sounds like relay switches turning off or on in that video.
