CLE53 vs FAKE BMW M4 (in pictures)

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I took the opportunity to go on my usual "Sunday drive" and stopped by my local Audi/BMW/Mercedes dealership. While I was there, I couldn't resist doing a little side-by-side comparison with a CPO M4 Competition they had for sale. I'll leave it to you to decide which one looks better, but I think it's pretty clear where my preferences lie.

Apologies for the CLE’s exterior condition—unfortunately, we got hit with snow and ice, so it's not looking its best at the moment.

Regardless the CLE 53 looks better, CLE 53 doesn't compete with m4 after all.

CLE is definitely a better looking car. BMW probably has the better reliability these days.

I guess I agree, might need a moderator or admin to rename the thread though. OP might not have the ability to rename a thread after 5 hours has elapsed (as part of a recent forum change).

I considered both while shopping. I do like that you can get the BMW with a manual transmission (not in the model pictured). I really wanted that manual but at the end of the day it I preferred the CLE 53 in virtually every other aspect.

LOL that's not an M4 - what were you smoking at the time

Seriously rename or edit the thread, since the M4 is distinctly different and far better overall looking (minus the front end) compared to the M340/440 variants.

The b58 and s58 might go down as some of the best motors bmw has ever made. Both can push serious power and have proven to be very reliable. Now the exterior design has been subject to a lot of scrutiny over the years but I actually the aggressiveness on the m3/m4. The 53 is a beautiful car though. Reliability will be another whole topic as MB has been going down hill for a while now.

Our household now has an M4 and a CLE53, both convertibles. They're more alike (especially with regard to technology) than I would have expected. I'm thrilled to be driving the CLE.

Congrats, that's an awesome duo

I recently test drove the M4 (it was a convertible since there were no coupes available at this particular dealership) and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, dynamically BMW M still has the edge compared with MB/AMG.
It was also in a colour (skyscraper grey with tartufo interior) that hid/disguised the front gloss black "nostrils" very well which ended up being much more appealing in person than it is in the lighter colours.
Will possibly now look at getting an M4 coupe if the upcoming CLE63 turns out to be something other than what's expected, if that happens it'll be a return to BMW M since my first one in 2003 - an E46 M3 convertible in Phoenix yellow

Anyways so here is an actual one (well it is an M3 not M4) just haven't seen side by side pictures posted by other forum members yet: https://mbworld.org/forums/cle-class...-cle-53-a.html

Perhaps someone can do the honours and drive their CLE 53 to a bmw dealership for the comparison?

Not really a good example as it's a sedan, OP should've edited this threads pics by now LOL lots of images on the net to pic from at least the title is revised
In my folders I have a couple images direct frontal and rear of a red M4 and a couple of one in white - side on pic with aftermarket wheels (all pre face lift), I'll attach here. Face lifted M4 has the laser tail lights which look pretty awesome...

How is the performance comp'd to the 53? Assuming an M4 comp and it's night/day faster.

2025 CLE 53

2018 911 2CS

2024 M4 Competition
Well our CLE 53 priced out at $97k and a nicely equipped M4 comp is around the same, and they are both German mid sized two door performance coupes so I'd say they are direct competitors. Yes there's no competition in the performance dept I'm sure, but the 63 will remedy that but at a cost that's much higher than an M4, which would be a mistake for MB imo as they overpriced the SL's and new GT's and their sales, or lack thereof are indicative of such.

Nice cars TripleJS, I've had a new M3 and a plethora of new 911's in many guises over the years but my/our (53 is for the wifey) tastes of late are HP Lux GT cars.

I mean, I understand the similarity in pricing nowadays when most MBs are much more expensive than before but I thought M4 competes with the CLE 63 though or C 63 although the latter no longer has a coupe version. Waiting for CLE 63.

Some say the BMW M440 but it's more of a tweener between it and the m4comp, maybe theM4 non-comp version is closer. Yes the 63 should be great, just hope mb doesn't overprice it like they did with the sl/gt.
