Touchshift question

I do not have my CLK yet, but how does touchshift work exactly? Since its in the same gear selector position as drive, how can you make it hold a gear till you either upshift or downshift? Thanks

You shift up and down by pushing the knob side to side. If it hits a certain RPM and you haven't shifted, it will do it for you.

How do you enter touchsift mode though? Is it always in that mode? Is it possible to say, hold it in your powerband in 3rd gear, because a normal automatic would have shifted to fourth by then?

Thanks

yeah, the regular D position is the touchshift position - http://photos.ebizautos.com/4815/614569_27.jpg. there's no 2nd gate or anything. you select third and it'll hold third. that kinda sucks that it'll upshift for you, especially if you accidentally go too high.

on mine, with the regular shifter, you can select all 5 gears and it'll just cut the fuel if you go too high - http://photos.highlineauctions.com/h...49/640/025.jpg

Thanks for the info, but I still don't really understand how touchshift works.. is it like all the other car company's Shiftronic/Tiptronic, etc.?

If I'm driving down the street in drive like normal... I'm accelerating in 2nd gear and I decide I want to hold it in second gear, how can I do that?

tap it to the left once to hold 4th, twice to hold 3rd, three times to hold 2nd, and four times to hold first. if you tapped down to first, tap it to the right once to hold 2nd, twice to hold 3rd, three times to hold 4th, and 4 times to hold 5th. on the display, "D" represents 5th gear.
