Oil Change?

My "Check Engine" light just came on and I've been expecting it to come on since it's been a while since my last service so I pulled the codes and Yep it needs an oil change etc. I went to my local stealership and got an oil filter and then to AutoZone for the Mobil 1 0W40 oil. I paid $26.04 for the filter and copper washer. Oil was cheap as I got a case of 10 for $46.00. Does that seem right for the filter though? I though it was cheaper!!

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Uh, your check engine light doesn't have...

anything to do with changing your oil. That doesn't mean "check your engine" per se. Usually it's a fault code that needs to be read with the proper scan tool, and will let you know what's not working properly in youir engine management system. But I guess fresh oil never hurt anything....

Mobil 1 0W40 for $4.60 a quart?!? Is it b'cuz you're in Texas? I tried five different Mobil stations and none had 0W40, one had 5W-30, and most had other weights for $6.99 quart!!! Also went to Autozone, Costco, Target, and Walmart and not a drop. Tried ordering from autozone.com and said out of stock, tried several times this year.

Any of you guys know if the dealship would sell in Los angeles (Pasadena/Glendale) area or what place you've recently bought 0W40? About ready to change the oil.

Edit: About the filter, I get OEM filter from interauto parts in Monrovia, CA for about $13.00.
