command retrofit and voice recognition

Hello All,

Just had my stock mb radio upgraded to command and voice recognition. Sammy from mbdoctor.com did all of the work. He really was great and local for me (ny). He has an mb laptop and can code the system right there. All pcs integrate and work well! His prices were very resonable and he is very flexible with his time. If you are looking to upgrade to command call him! I promise its worth the call! Email me if you have any questions!!

voice recognition useful??

I'm really considering VR, but almost everybody I talk to say they don't really use, after the coolness is gone. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of VR, but I'm just wondering if it really practical in the long run.

What's the real life benifit? I plan to add the COMAND, I already have the changer, and don't really need the phone kit.

I've read through the VR manual, and about 1/5 the way through the COMAND manual. The CD and radio control is cool, but I'd really like it if you can input NEW destinations by voice to the navi. How does VR work with the Navi besides calling up past destinations?

Opinions on why it's useful? And yeah, how much for the VR?

i just won this ebay auction for the phone kit and v/r module with a timeport phone and plan on retrofitting them myself when i get them sometime next week. i figure ill have my dealer version code it when i bring my car in for that harmonic balancer recall. once installed ill tell you if its worth it, but for $250.00 i figured i couldnt go wrong.

hopefully Verizon will do it. I just called ATT/Cing and they said if the phone # is on their network they will activate it. So I think that means the phone needs to be active at the time of transfer/activation.

i think they were meaning that if the number is on their network, the phone is clearly compatible with the network. with all the new number portability jazz, you can move between carriers whenever you want and keep the same number. to keep your *old* number number, yes, the phone needs to be active at the time of transfer/activation. if you cancel your old ATT service and go to "port" your number to t-mobile, it wont work, and you'll have to sign up for a new phone number. cingular/att switched from cdma, and they only activate gms now, so thats where some people might have problems. verizon still uses a cdma network though
