I have an Eisenmann race exhaust but I'm hating the tip. It says RET sport or something like that on the tips... I don't know if that's stock or not, I actually got the exhaust used. What I want to do is to cut those tips off and put on a nicer dual chrome tip that's about the same size. My question is... will it affect the sound of the exhaust?

 

Most likely yes it will. That's why the SL55 sounds so crappy compared to other cars, because all four tips are not the same length.

 

Yes it will sound different because there is a baffle inside the tips (look in the tips). Sounds nice though doesnt it? Yours says RET Sport because you got one of the older models. The new ones say Eisenmann on them.
