condenser

so it's a two piece system condenser and the radiator.
condenser is first i think and that's probably why it got damaged and not the radiator. at least my engine coolant is not leaking, that's much more imprtant to me than the AC working

so i'm in the market for a new condenser for a C43. i think part number is 2028300870. I found a few choices so far ranging from 200 bucks on ebay (shipping included) to 240-300 online depenidng on the manufacturer, etc.
Is manufacturer of any particular importance here?
Does anyone have a place to recommend?
TIA!

It was 99 degrees yesterday and I had a 5 hour car drive....20 minutes into the drive, the AC shut off.

I pulled over, did the reset trick, and it was back on.....for 20 more minutes, unitl it went off again. Damn, that was long long long drive......

time to read all of the sensors out and start troubleshooting
keep us posted on your progress . . .

i've just got my new A/C condenser . . . hopefully it will fit and i'll install it this coming weekend.
i'm not sure it's the right part though, it was supposed to be behr, but it looks like an ACM.

FREON

Sensor seven reads 2.

Looks likes I need to add freon. Could anyone confirm the proper type/brand name of freon to purchase? I am only blowing hot air right now.

I think it takes R134a. I remember it was in the manual somewhere in the back.

My sensor 7 reads 18 when the engine is not running and 12-13 when the engine runs. So is this normal? I just had my AC recharged last week but still hot air coming in???

2000 CLK430 Cabriolet
I recharged my 2000 CLK430 cabriolet myself and seems to work fine. Much cooler than before, but still not cold. I already added two 12 oz cans, but a mechanic friend who works for a Ford Dealership says the car probably needs one more can and not to worry about overfilling the compressor. He says if you put in too much R134, it will leak out itself.

I thought the purpose of air conditioning gauges was so that a system won’t be overfilled. If the system is overcharged, I thought the compressor would cycle on and off repeatedly because the system is over pressurized. Since the compressor can’t run continuously, the vent air would be warmer than normal. But I'm no AC tech, so I may have gotten this wrong.

Could you run through your car's AC diagnostics and post the results? If you're not sure how, here's a link.
