Front brake job...

Hi everyone... been lurking for a minute but now I have a question...

Took my '02 320 over to the dealer for some work (ball joints and rear cat replaced... out of warranty ) and they said that a new set of front rotors and pads will be needed soon.

However, they're "estimating" $550 total cost for the job. Now it's been a while since I did the front rotors, but I know they're not that expensive... and even with the outrageous $100/hour labor fee, doesn't that sound kinda pricey?

I'm considering doing this myself after reading that E brake job write-up, but I'm not really sure if it's gonna be that easy...

I've looked at autohausaz and parts.mbz.org and from the looks of it the front rotors are like $70-80 a piece at the most... and another like $80 for the pads.

Does that sound about right? What else do I need (that paste? the sensors, etc)?

Thanks

Its not that hard...

Take off wheels (5 17mm bolts)

Remove caliper (2 12mm bolts)

Remove carrier (2 18mm bolts)

Remove rotor (T2? torx volt)

Remove sensor bolt (E7 inverse T45 Torx bolt) -if applicable (passenger side)

Install is reverse

Let's make it even easier

I posted a DIY with pics for the W210 chassis, it's thread 107227 on this site, just search and you'll find it with info on where to source parts, etc.

PM if you have any questions.

Take care and enjoy (stopping) the ride,
Greg
