Question As a car ages - what should I take care of first...

Well I just passed the 50k mark and for the sake of conversation, I would like to hear what the forum has to say about what should be addressed first as my and your car continues to age. Which parts tend to wear out first, but replacing them at a certain mileage prior to their malfunction, will help prolong the useful life of your vehicle (i.e. water pump, timing belt, alternator, etc...) Maybe I am being a bit premature but when it comes to my 208, I am in it for the long haul...

sell it

if the car isn't under warranty, sell it! Too many things age on these Mercedes and your car becomes more of an ongoing project that never has an end to it.

I guess it will be the battery coz your car is 2000 and it is five years old and I think you need to replace the battery every five years or something like that. Alternator will be next..... also the shocks if you always full-load your car or accelerate very hard.

W208 is a very nice looking car and I also want to keep the car for a long time.

I agree it is a beautiful car, but I speak from experience when I warn you, your car will become an ongoing project more than a car, which is all it should be.

CHANGE YOUR OILS!!! And then at 60K follow the list of recommended repairs from the dealership but take it to a good recommended mechanic to replace and save some money.

Got that covered... I got a MB tech guy who does work on the side whenever I need something to be done which doesnt fall into my starmark warranty. Its ridiculous how much MB wants to charge for a job sometimes but I am sure you are all aware of this

You're lucky you have a good MB tech guy to go to . I'm still looking for one as my warranty is about to expire. Wish me luck.
