Mid Range Speakers?

Do any audio companies make a midrange which could fit in the door of a 2000 CLK430?

What kind of speakers do you recommend for the rear deck (the speakers below the rear window)?

I am prejudiced to alpine and I know about what they offer but has anyone switched it up?

Thanks in advance...

Are you planning on using the stock amplifier? Not a good idea, I was told that the Bose system runs on some rediculous ohm rating (something like 0.5) and swapping out just the speakers will cause a bunch of blown speakers. I have MB Quart apeakers and PPI amps sitting at home waiting to be put in. The door actually has 2 sets of speakers (6.5" and 4") plus a set of tweeters in them. The deck has a pair of 6.5" speakers. The best speakers in my opinion are boston acoustic or mb quart. If you go with high end speakers you will lose the bass you currently have because they expect you to get subs as well. I have a set of brand new PPI 6.5" Component speakers for sale if anyone wants em. Make a reasonable offer.

.5 would be too close to a dead short 0.0 ohms :^). While you are mostly correct the actual problem with changing out speakers in the Bose system is that in most cases you actual lose output by changing speakers. If the system runs at 2 ohms per side(if memory serves me correct-been a few years out of the bay- that is what the MB bose runs at) and you add aftermarket speakers at 4 ohms per side, you cut the output in half of the bose system. I agree that BA or MBquart are solid choices. Alpine hi-end line is very good as well. I am going with the POLK SR6500 in mine due to the amount of Midrange they put out.The best case senerio still is upgrading the amp as well.

I know there are plenty of 6.5 inch speakers out there for the door but how about 4 inch?

I'll look into MB quart today...

Just because its 6.5 doesn't guarentee it will fit... you need to know the speaker dept mount... There isn't much space back there, so you need some shallow speakers...

I'm like blackbenzz, I have a PPI PC4800 sitting in the closet, waiting to be installed... it so big and pretty... I think its about 3-4' wide, all CHROME... like a mirror... it will take up the entire back seat area...

why don't you just install them???

btw, I just have to tell someone about the deal i got on the PC4800... so I ordered a PC4100 (4x100W) and they call me back like 1-2 days later that the product is out of stock... and they were like, if you want, we can ship you a PC4800 (4x200W) for no additional cost... I was like, DONE! :d :Y

W209
Not too sure about the set ups for a 208, but as for the 209, we had to make custom MDF wood rings and bracets to fit in the rear. 6.5's wont fit properly. This is for a w209 that is. As for kinds of speaker, you cant go wrong with Diamond Audio, MB quartz, Focal, Image Dynamics, or even JL audio. I use to have Morels, and were tuned properly by a professional, let me tell you, they sound just as good as Dynaudio. Morels are awesome.

Need subs before I install. Theres nothing I hate more than a system with just highs and mids. I need to sell the PPI 6.5" components cuz I bought all mb quart speakers all throughout the car. I also have jl 6x9's if anybody wants em. I ordered them for a coworker and then the dumbass got fired and I dont have his contact info.

you could go with boston acoustic, but those are power hungry speakers and need quite a bit to get to their potential. i'd look into the cdt EF series...i just bought a pair for my clk ....very good midbass and overall response. you can find great deals on them online. for the rear deck, i'd recommend looking into elemental designs....they just came out with an eu-700 6.5" midbass that acts as a subwoofer. if you got a 4 channel amp, you could power your components up front as mids/highs and the rears as subs....im sure it would sound amazing as that's what im planning to do. you can check out edesignaudio.com or cdtaudio.com......absolutely amazing products for the price
