CD changer

Hi
I want to put a CD changer in the boot of my 320. Can I put in a changer from any maunfacturer or does it have to be a Mercedes CD changer? I want to be able to contol it with the multi-function steering wheel. Is there a 10 disc option available for Mercedes or do they only make a 6 disc version?

Thanks for any help

6 or 10?

I've seen a 6 disc changer. Do MB have a 10 disc option?

You didn't say where you are or when your CLK320 was built.

If you're in the USA and your car is a 1998 model CLK320, you can use either the M-B branded changer for '95-'98 models or an Alpine model 601 (or similar) CD changer and an active adapter cable available from many stereo shops.

If you're in the USA and your car is a 1999 or newer model, you can use a M-B branded fiber-optic CD changer or a Becker BE2662. Either can be purchased for about $400, so you might as well buy the M-B branded unit since you can use the factory mounting bracket/cover and make it look totally stock.

If you're not in the USA, then you have to find out what CD changers are compatible with your head unit (i.e. MB Audio 10, MB Audio 30, etc.) and your car may not be pre-wired for a CD changer as well.

England

Hi thanks for your response.
I'm in the UK and the car is a 2000 registration. The car is fitted with an Audio 10 Cassette deck but it will control a CD changer. I want to cotrol the whole thing (head unit and CD changer) with the mutil-function steering wheel as I think it's a pretty cool feature of the car.
Do MB have a 10 disc option?

Thanks for your help

No, the Audio 10 uses the fiber-optic 6-disc changer.

So it cannot control a 10 changer? Do MB actually have a ten disc changer and which head unit is required to drive it?

Thanks

Does anyone know if the Audio 30 head unit can control a 10 disc changer or do I need a whole new system?
