Anyone know where I can get a custom carbon fiber hood? Want something like a ferrari 550 hood scoop and slits on the sides. Its time to get back to modding.

They're out there for our cars, but i havent seen them with hoodscoops and such. I'd be interested to see how it looks, my hood needs to be repainted and it would be interesting to see CF on a black car. Anyone got pics?

I remember a while back a guy had a silver CLK with CF hood and trunk, it looked a little tacky on silver though.

There is a group buy going on for E55 c/f hood for only about 850+shipping. We dont have to get the black c/f, he can make silver c/f for an extra $99. So for a little over a grand (if we get enough people) we can get custom c/f hoods done. I think this would look SICK! I have already started talking to people to see if I can get something made for the W208.

Thanks. But I'm looking for something that doesnt look OEM. It has to have some kind of hood scoop or slits or something. That looks pretty plain to me. At least the ML one has a hood scoop. Only problem with that would be water getting into the engine Any other suggestions?

I suggest you dump the hood scoop idea, it will serve absolutely no purpose except the creation of aerodynamic drag.

Anyone that sells you anything made out of "silver" carbon fiber or any color other than black doesn't know what they are selling or are not telling you the truth.
You can have carbon fiber in any color as long as it is BLACK.
Any other color is either dyed fiber glass cloth or kevlar.

Not true on the carbon fiber. I've seen black AND silver in person (real stuff). Not sure about any other colors.

Regarding the hood - sounds really rice.

Ya, Kleeman makes Silver CF interiors, and i doubt they'd be one to BS their consumer.

This hood is just for looks, I've given up on perfrormance which is why I have decided to go strictly for looks. I have been offered sponsorship and am considering showing my car.I am 100% sure there is silver carbon fiber. They just use silver thread instead of black. Its not that difficult. You can pretty much make any color you want.

I think you are confused.
You are talking about a weave. Carbon fiber (strand) because of how it is made can only be black, no ifs ands or buts!
There are very few carbon fiber strand manufacturers, but lots of weavers.
What they do is weave carbon fiber strand with some other fiber to give it color so what you saw was not 100% carbon fiber weave but a silver weave that contains carbon fiber.

Your info comes from some guy showing you what he claimed to be silver carbon fiber.
I made parts out of carbon fiber (industrial applications). Went to two factories that make carbon fiber strand. Talked with the engineers that make the stuff. Went to several carbon fiber weaving companies.
I guess you know more about this stuff.

I started this thread cuz I was looking for a c/f hood, not to argue about what color c/f is. You dont need to get smart and say "I guess you know more about this stuff". Thats great that you worked with carbon fiber and all but if you look at the pics that were posted, thats what I'm talking about. I dont care if carbon fiber is black, purple, blue, or orange. I just want that silver color c/f. Since you worked with c/f so much and have extensive experience maybe you should help out with finding this stuff. I thought all carbon fiber auto parts (we're not talking about industrial stuff here) were weaves At least thats what I was told, but I guess you're the expert, right?
