Question Coupe vs. Cabriolet Part II

OK... the last post about which is better was interesting. The Coupes have a strong argument in that they are quicker , but in my opinion, you guys don't have a chance in the looks category. I posted a few pics to help prove my case. And before you guys go off on me about the grill and the emblem both being on the car.... This is the first car that I own that has a hood ornament, and I love that it can be seen from inside the car! Future project will be a wood steering wheel, aftermarket navi head unit (eclipse), low dust brake pads, new rims (19's), and maybe lowered. I already installed the Grill as you can see, illuminated door sill, rear lip spoiler, custom suede seat inserts, and a lot of TLC.

haters crazy
Have you seen some of the coupes on this site? Your car is nice but cabs got nuthin on the coupe (performance, handling, looks, etc.) I guess thats because I hate convertibles unless they are hardtop.

I agree with you... to a point. I guess it's a matter of opinion. I did see an aluminum hardtop boot for the Cab online that I would like to get, but i'm still trying to get over the 6k price tag!

This poll isn't going to tell us much because:

1. There are far more coupes out there than cabriolets
2. The majority of people are going to like what they bought more than what they didn't. If anyone happens to votes for the one they don't have, please post to prove me wrong!

A less-biased way to answer your question would be to check with people who haven't yet bought one, and a good way to do that is just look at the resale values. Compare the original cost of both the coupe and the cab to their respective current resale averages, and see which one experienced a lower percentage of depreciation. It'll be clear from that which one is in demand.

As for me, well, I find the cab to be a much more attractive car, but then again, I'm biased!

Yes, I've driven both, and I know the convertible is marginally (very marginally) slower than the coupe because of the extra weight. And I don't just mean the extra weight from the chassis reinforcements, but also from all the girls riding in it. So let that scowling guy covered in tats fly past me in his gansta'd-out coupe all by himself, I'm quite sure I'll be enjoying the ride more.

Your cabrio looks amazing but, alas, I'm a coupe guy. I'm a big fan of 70's muscle cars and the coupe has those sweet roof to rear quarter panel lines.
That's the nicest leather color I think I've seen though, Designo?
Anyway, you really have to make a desicion on hood or grill star.....It's a bit overkill imho.

I'm just trying (fat chance) to convert some of you Coupe drivers. Hey... what if I got a S/C like Josh K, which by the way is sick, and the hardtop attachment (see below). Would I get the Coupe love then? You're right though Splib, everyone is biased to what they have. I just want us all to get along I will tell you this... I do hate to see a dirty CLK (Coupe or Cab) on the road , it just sickens me . Thanks to everyone for the kind words about my ride!

00 clk 320 and 3 hondas. Darn I am down to 4 cars.
I am a coupe guy all the way. I had been wanting to buy an S2000, but it is only available as a convertible. not for me.
I don't care for the extra weight, the chassis flex, the inevitable eventual soft top replacement, the maintenance and expense of a convertible top, the space you loose to the folding mechanism..... Not worth it in my book.

Also I don't like the lines of the car with the soft top, it kills the smooth lines of the car.

I have to admit I voted for the cabriolet, however, after seeing what you did to your green one, I take my vote back COMPLETELY.

Sure all the guys will rip on you for havning a convertible and call you gay, but there just jealous cuz ur pulling more *****s then they get in the coupe. Its just a fact, both our cars are the same color and both have had rims on them and regardless the cab wins the stares over

02 CLK320 ,bilstein sport shocks, Eiback springs, ECU upgraded, Front grill and emblem, 18" wheels
Ok lets see... A Male driving a corvete conv, sl500 conv. Ferrari conv, mercedes conv, and so on, does not make them look gay. Lets starts off by saying that yes its a preference to each, So when we talk looks the conv looks sexier than a coupe any day especialy with its top down, (My opinion). Put aside some performance differences and weight yes if your looking for that then get a coupe. But do we realy want to race or make a muscle car out of a mercedes. The fact that some even have a benz is enough. The benz , are upscale and luxurious cars not hot rods. Anyways that just my opinion, no offence to coupe owners.

Never been a cab fan...
The extra weight, looser chassis, and messed up lines have kept me away from cabriolets. even upper end ones like Ferrari spyders dont appeal to me like their hardtop counterparts. The only exceptions are cars like the Koenigsegg CCR and the Carrera GT where the only top you're removing is a flat roof piece. A car with only an A pillar just looks incomplete to me. Also, dont get that hardtop, the back looks like a piece of bulbous spherical '70s furniture, see the difference?

My advice about the star, enjoy it till you get sick of it, then remove one or the other, trust me it wont take long

Thats because the ladies want to drive it. I've seen girls stare endlessly at VW new beetle cabs and mini cooper cabs, does that mean we should all trade in our cars? I dunno about you, but i dont wanna have a car girls think its "cute"

"the car is stock????"

dooode.... if you kept your car completely stock, you wouldn't be getting all these nasty comments about your car. You pretty much "riced" it up all you could w/o spending any money on it.....just like civic and integra owners do. You want examples....no problem.

#1 that deck lid spoiler looks like ***.
#2 those suede inserts, with a stock car, look ridiculous.
#3 you need to lower that car...it looks like a 4X4 right now.
#4 get rid of that HUGE A$$ emblem on your hood (that's only a $30 mod)
#5 the color.....do i need to say any more?

if you aren't gonna mod your ride correctly, DON'T DO IT! you are just going to get made fun of.

HUBITUBI put it best : if you don't know how to mod your car, just ask somebody.

after all I commented on, all you can quote is "not lowering your car doesn't make it rice." I guess you didn't read my entire posting. My point is that all the mods that were done on the car , whether he did the mods, or the previous owner did the mods, makes the car look ricey.

It's against the TOU to post w/o permission? who the hell are you? this is a discussion forum, the last time I checked, and if I feel like voicing my opinions, I sure as hell will.

If you can't take criticism, don't post up your pics. Some people like the car, some people don't. That's life, brother.

oh yeah...BTW, did you get permission to post your quote? LOL
Which fantasy land do you come from?

You agree, through your use of the Discussion Forums, that the posting of private communications (including, but not limited to e-mail, private messages, letters, faxes) without the consent of all parties to said communication is strictly prohibited.
btw, you're not the one who quoted his PM, so i dunno why you're bothering with it lol. i agree that some things don't look too great on the car, but does it hurt to be a little more tactful and not say things like "omg ur car looks like ***?" sheesh
