How do I remove the instrument panel
I have an 02 clk430 and one of my bulbs behind the instrument panel is out and its pissing me off everytime I look at it. I can take it to mercedes and they will do it for free considering the car is still under warrenty but if its easy I would rather just do it myself. Does anyone know how to do this without destroying anything or should I just let the dealership do it?

Takes two minutes. Take the panel on the driver side, under the footwell off. Then push the cluster out from the back of it with your hand. Unclip 2 plugs and you're good to go. If you're not familiar with the clips, it can be a little challenging to figure out. (Push, pull down, then lift out) Once those are off, if you extend your telescoping wheel all the way out, it will be pretty easy to remove. When you have the cluster out, the bulbs are pretty easy to twist out and remove. One of my illumination backlights went out, so I switched it with my seatbelt light. (hehe) I guess I figure I'll wait before a couple more go out, instead of replacing one at a time. You can get a 20 pack of bulbs (no socket) for about $6 from getcoolparts.com. If you choose to go with the sites that offer these bulbs individually (with the socket) it'll run you about $4 a pop.

Out Of Control!!
When I changed the 2 big bulbs in the cluster to LED blue I was dissappointed cuz the edges were purple and the digital readouts looked nasty as well. If you get it figured out please post pics.

Ah, Gee.....(blushing) Actually, I learned everything I have from this and other boards. No master here....just a good student. If some of you guys are looking for a good site check out mercedesshop.com. They have a GREAT tech forum there. There are so many master MB technicians there it's sick. Most of the members there have older cars but there are a few with newer models. Regardless, the techs there are always more than welcome to help, and their archives are not deleted (like this site does), so you can search past posts and find answers instantly. If you do post a new thread, make sure you post your year and model or else you'll get crap for it.
