It does shine really good. When I got the bumper installed, my body guy waxed, polished, and buffed it. When he was done, it looked like it came out of the showroom floor. This guy is AMAZING!!!! No more swirls, knicks, scratches... He did an amazing job!
As far as the 4x4, I think it's the angle and the photo, because after looking at the photo, you're right, it does look a little like that, but in real life, it doesn't have that feel at all.
Oh and by the way, it's not an expression bumper, it's a MH-Dezent that I got from www.oberklasse.com

Decided that it would prolly be best if I washed my car before my MIT interview...and I happened to have my sister's digital camera so I took a couple pics. It was worth it...the guy was indeed impressed by what I accomplished
