When the "Check Engine" light goes on, what do you do?....
a.) call the dealer, set an appointment, have them check it out.
b.) check the gas cap, tighten it, drive the car for a day or two with the check engine light on....and if its still on after those 2 days, call the dealer and set an appointment.
c.) any suggestions?
Which would be the best to do?

Out Of Control!!
I would always have the code read to be sure that it is nothing serious. Almost always, the light goes on due to an emissions reason. But why risk it? When the Check Engine light comes on, have it checked.

I did ' a) ' like a good MB owner, and I think the manual says that too, and MB Fletcher Jones told me to do ' b) ' ......oh well
When the light says "Check Engine", doesn't it mean "Check Engine" ?? and since I don't "Check Engines" and dont want to void the warranty then I should have the "Engine Checked" by MB..... but they suggest otherwise....oh well, hopefully it goes away and nothing worse happens.

Definitely take it in to the dealership for a check. I just picked up my new '03 320 Cab. last week and the next day the "check engine" light came on. I also checked the gas cap before panicking, but it wasn't the problem. The manual said if all else seemed ok, it was fine to drive but to get in for a diagnostic. I took it right in and sure enough the Fuel Sensor was bad. After a tank drain and sensor replacement I was back on the road...
