H&R / Eibach / Lorinsor .... What type of springs?
I'm a newbie to the forum and I've spent a lot of time reading through practically every thread in this CLK forum (and lots from the old forum too).
My question is: What type of suspension are all you folks out there running?
I'm looking to lower the car about 1". Just to make it look sportier and to get better handling.
But, at the same time, I don't want to lose too smooth ride the stock suspension offers.
I'm also thinking of swapping the stock 17s to 18s (lose some ride comfort) or maybe to 19s (forget ride comfort).
What do you all recommend?
Thanks in advance!

Forget about the ride, go for 19's and slam the thing down, you will have to if your putting 19's, man if i could put 20's on I would but its too much work, for me MIN 19's...and any springs you go with are great but stick only with Lorinser, BRabus, and H&R, or Kleemann

i have the stock suspension on my CLK but on my C230 i have H&R springs with RennTech Shocks and it drives great.
If i were to replace my suspension on my CLK i would definitly ONLY get H&R springs with any good brand shocks.

And it is a great match, to me just as good as the Renntech springs and i always liked H&R springs so i would rarther have these. Also at that time i remember Renntech set up was not as low as the set up with H&R springs so i prefered the lower look. But i know RennTechs new setup for the C230 is changed and it does look good, but i love my setup. It preforms and looks great.

i recommend you get h&r springs with bilstein setup. or ask ben about the kleeman shocks. i have h&r w/ bilstein and i have 18inch wheels. my ride is definitely more stiff than stock, but it is definitely no where as stiff as M3.

2000 CLK430
I put Eibach's on my car and had to take them off. The lowered look was great (handling change was marginal), but despite extensive efforts by my dealer, they could not align it to keep from chewing up tires. Contacted Eibach about an alignment kit and they don't have one for the CLK430, so now, nearly $1K later I have the stock shocks back on and the Eibach's sitting in the box.
