I'm looking for the grill insert for a '00 CLK430. The name of the part is a "splitter". Does anyone know of a less expensive source other than the dealers? Also, does anyone have a more secure way of attaching it to the grill mid section? I feel that someone pulled it away from my car because I never hit anything and there is no damage whatsoever to the bottom of the spoiler.

To keep it on, attach with nylon ties...there are holes for it on the splitter and the bumper. I've got mine attached that way.

That's the story of my life, a day late and a dollar short. I looked on Ebay before and contacted the sellers of grill pieces etc but I never had any luck. If by remote chance you happen to see another one, I appreciate an email.

It took me about 6 months. One easy way to do this is setup Ebay auto-notifications for any new auctions with "CLK bumper", etc...

To do this, go into "My Ebay" on your account, and then use "All Favorites", "My Favorite Searches"

That way you don't have to go search everyday, it'll just show up in your email inbox.

If that insert gets knocked out how hard is it to replace?

Once you find one (the hard part), then it takes about 30 seconds to replace (2 minutes if you attach it with nylon ties, which is HIGHLY recommended)...
