Mobil1 0-40. Surprisingly, Wal-Mart carries it for $5/quart. The Kragen chain does as well, but for a bit more than Wal-Mart.
Does the Renesis take synthetic, or is that question still the cause of endless debate/flames at Rx7Club?

It doesn’t "have" to be the euro formula. My dealer has been putting 5W-40 QS in since day one. I recently changed the oil to Mobil1 5w-30, but I heard that the 30 weights from Mobil1 is not a true synthetic and is not recommended by MB. I plan on keeping it in for 4000 miles, then changing to 5w-40 from Mobil1.

0w-40 or 5w-40?
So which is it? 0w-40 or 5w-40 Mobile 1?
I heard that 0w-40 Mobile 1 is better for turbo-charged cars (such as the Audi S4) and 5w-40 is the proper weight for our CLKs (320 and 430). What does the dealership use?

Answered my own question!
Actually it is Mobil 1 0W-40, fully synthetic. I went to www.mobil1.com and punched in ym car's info, 2002 CLK 430, and found out. Here's the link in case anyone else needs it:

0w-40 is the most advanced and only recommended oil from Mobil 1. The CLK manual has suggestions and but,
From mobil 1 website..
---------------------------
Current Vehicle:
Year: 2002
Make: Mercedes-Benz
Model: CLK320
Engine Type: 6cyl. 3.2Liter
Mobil 1 0W-40
A fully synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1 0W-40 with SuperSyn Technology exceeds industry standards and the major leading builder requirements, enabling the product to keep performing well after conventional oils cannot. Mobil 1 is recommended by leading car manufacturers as initial fill.
------------------------
Like previously mentioned, WalMart has the cheapest price for this oil. I usually pick up a good supply each time i go and stock up. Do oil changes myself or at my local Benz mechanic.

You can use it with no problem, my local dealership only uses 5w-40, hence why my car has been using it from the start. Here is a list of approved oils:
