I said everyone is entitled to their opinion....I never said anything about the new E's or CLK's looking bad because they look great. And there is a reason they look great. Those headlights were designed to fit the car...the new CLK's and E's are curvy and swoopy, and so the headlights match.

Those headlights would look like crap on the boxy (and better looking) W208's They dont fit the look of the car....it reminds me of the ugly projectors people put on accord, civics, and acura's,... In my opinion, if you want clear headlight lenses, just upgrade to oem xenon's...

I guess my glasses arent thick enough...? haha....really, you wouldnt describe a w208 as boxy, or stocky, or whatever? The windshield is bolt upright? Look at the rear of the car square on...its not exactly curvy. The headlights are perfectly upright, not slanted like the new ones...to me the clk are in the same class as the e class and W140 s class....vaults on wheels.

Wow, this is not the place to pop your car critique cherry. If you think the windshield on a CLK sits bolt upright, then you need to find a better matchbox car to base your opinions off of. You also might want to actually take a look at a real CLK before making any comments, because with your commentary so far, i give you about a 1% chance of actually owing one. Come back in a few years when you finally get a drivers license.

Oh and you're right, everyone's entitled to thier own opinion, but im also entitled to mock you until you crawl back into whatever hole you crept up out of.

To each it's own. My friend called my car boxy, but I didn't take any offense to it. Personally, I don't think it is.

TK, the pic of the Reliant is classic! Now that's boxy!

Maybe retrofitting a vinyl Landau roof can be my next project.

My friend hates the G-Wagen because she thinks it looks way too boxy (it sure is.. and the windshield is almost 90* to the hood...) which is why I love it

Regarding the headlights...

I wish they made the Xenon version of those with self-level and everything like the OEMs..

Honestly, I'm not a fan of these headlights on the older-model W210 (pre-facelift) as the headlights are pretty upright on those cars. They look better on the newer W210.

Since the 208's headlights are more slanted, they should look pretty good.

Are they not producing replacement headlight assemblies for those of us who have factory xenon? Even though these things aren't exactly what I want, if they made them for H.I.D. applications I might be willing.

One roadbump after another

TK,
Isn't it ironic? The glasses on the dog are clear and 'the look' we're all after!
Take the glasses off the dog and have them fabricated to fit a 208!

Im almost positive you could retrofit your factory xenon lights into the new housings. most are made with a cutout below the housing to house the ballasts.

Possible Clear Lens Option

I've had a cracked xenon lens (still functions - but it looks like crap) for 6 mos. I've been waiting for an aftermarket solution, because paying for a used/new assembly seemed like a waste. Waited for this to come out, but it won't work (they won't sell just a lens). I found a place that claims they will manufacture one (or both)for me - but I need more volume to make it cost efffective. They needed a mold, and my lens is the driver's side - but I do have an entire driver's side assembly that I found locally (non-xenon, so it is patterned), thinking I could grind out the pattern. Nice theory - but much work. Anyway, anybody interested in chasing this down? It would be only a lens solution, and I'd have to track a passenger side lens so they could make the mold out of it - but it would be a start if you wanted to try your own build.
Yeah - I do drive the least valuable 208 ever, completely unmodded (except for the BrabusVI's-which came from a yard, but I have turned every wrench on that car myself, and nobody who sees it can believe what it's worth (as you all well know - not much). Not a rattle or squeak - and relentlessly serviced (by me).

Yeh, i still have people assume that my car is new. The vast majority of people out there have no idea what models are current or not, so its best to go with what you like yourself.

Hey King, you use Zaino? My boy was telling me about that stuff the other day and swore by it, especially for black. Since I have black and obviously you do, what is your take on Zaino? How often do you wax 'er up?

Yeh, Zaino is good stuff. I havent used it in almost a year but the car is still relatively shiny. I will hopefully be reapplying it before i leave for school. You can reasonably expect the shine to hold up for 6 months, but let me stress that you need to prep the surface for the sealant (zaino is a sealant, not a wax). It comes with a swirl remover/ paint cleaner that works great. Also, use it sparingly and follow the directions exactly. If done right it looks amazing and holds up forever, if done wrong you can take it all off with dawn or with the new green stuff (Z-PC i believe) but you will have wasted some expensive stuff. I would read up on it in the detail forum, there is a huge sticky all about it.

I agree, I get that comment all the time too. And if there were newer "looking " headlight assemblies......

King,
To the retro fitting, hell of an idea. Has anyone performed this and made a write up with pics? Here on the forum? I might just have to give this a shot if someone else pioneered it first. :cheers"
