What gives with all the Error Messages?

Since purchasing my 2002 CLK55 recently, I have noticed that everytime that i do any type of maintenance on my car that inevitably it always throw a error message on the display upon the 1st start after the maintenence.

1st Example: 2 weeks ago. After changing my tranny fluid, gasket, and filter, upon start, the car showed 3 malfunctions. ABS,BAS, and ESP. After taking the intake assembly apart again and reinstalling as I thought perhaps the MAF was not securely snug with the intake, the problem disappeared after about the 5th time I turned the car on/off. Since this time I have purchased the stop lamp switch which from what I gathered on this forum seems to be the main culprit. The malfuction messages have not returned since they went away by themselves. I have not installed the new switch.

2nd Example: Just today I changed the air filter and after i finished i started the vehicle the car said "NO CD CHANGER". I'm thinking WTF. I turned it off and on again and it disappeared.

Mercedes sure makes it difficult for do it yourselfer's to do anything without problems and spending $$ on special tools, sheeesh

These problems are sure making me think twice about installing the suspension that i have been sitting on for 2 months. I'm afraid it may give me a "Your Motor Is Blown" code or something.

MBCA had an event here in ATL yesterday (tech session) and error codes were a topic. Basically, thse cars are so technically advanced, there are codes for everything!

Codes are stored in memory until cleared.

00 clk 320 and 3 hondas. Darn I am down to 4 cars.
First problem is your brake pedal switch going bad. Mine did the same thing. It used to fail every once in a while until it finally failed permanently. Keep the spare handy. Second problem is no problem at all really. It's a software glitch that takes care of itself by rebooting the stereo. No lingering effects.
