CLK lost power while at stop light
Hi everyone!! I am the owner of a 00 CLK 430 AMG and the other day, while playing my cd player th power just went out and the car cut off at the stop light. Minutes before that incident, the power to the cd started to come and go and then it started to play normal. I notice that when I am playing the cd player this happens, but it is very unpredictable as to when it happens and I don't want to be traveling and lose power...Luckily it always starts back up, but still.......anyone else had this problem? If so, what was it and how much does it run to fix it?? Thanks

If your check engine light comes on and the motor starts freaking out, it's your Mass air flow sensor. Also, FYI there is no such thing as a CLK 430 AMG. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, just letting you know.

it could also be ur battery... if u are on your original battery, its about time to change it... but yea, most likely the alternator or alternator regulator

I just purchased vehicle ...big mistake....from a reputable dealer--I thought...anyways...I took the vehicle to the dealer yesterday and of course they couldn't find anything wrong w/ the veh...just told me to "monitor the problem and come back if it continues"...the 6 cd changer is by MB....
No lights on the dash come on at any time...
Thanks for all suggestions--I'll be trying them...
Oh, and please excuse my ignorance "Winston-Salem, NC"..It's a 430 w/ an AMG kit.....I know you aren't trying to be a jerk---I'm from NC and that's just the way some of us are!

and my car has been at the dealer since. they just called me yesterday and that they think they figured out what the problem was, a defective crank shaft sensor. who knows with these idiots though...

no idea what's with the CD changer power going on and off. BUT if you are at a stop light and the engine just shut off it's most likely the crank shaft sensor. This is a common problem on the W208 I believe. The sensor on my sister's 2000 CLK320 also went bad. The engine just stopped when the car comes to a stop a couple times when she was driving. It was fixed under the extended warranty tho, so no money out of pocket.

A MB mechanic (recommended by a fellow MBWorld pro) in MD says that if that is the problem, he can repair for $275-300...But he wants to check the codes out first---appointment on Tuesday

I thought the crankshaft sensor was only to start the car? When my sensor was bad, all it did was not let the car start at random...it was like playing the slots at vegas...Keep trying till it hit...My car never just died while it was already running.

Hey guys...thanks for all of the tips...I took the vehicle to a MB Specialist--Mitch Carr's --in Kensington, MD and they were really knowledgeable and gave me a good deal also!! They checked everything out and said I had a lot of faulty codes and other "BS" codes, but they cleared them and did some other small minor things and said I should be fine...She's been ok, so far....They want me to come in for a checkup in 2 weeks to see if all is ok and that I am still satisfied w/ the way everything is going, b/c they said they want to be able to give me good customer service and fix "what is wrong" and not get taken advantage of like I was at the local stealership!!
