Key or Crank Position Sensor?

3 or 4 times during the last 2 months, I'll start the car...it fires up...then immediately dies. It happens on hot and cold starts, and once started, the car runs fine.
After some reading I thought it could be the crank position sensor..dealer mentioned it might be the key.
Soooooo...has any one else had a simliar problem and offer some input??
