Koni Shocks performance question

I've heard that the Koni's are the best as far as maintaining the Mercedes Ride, true or false? Okay, if so, how are they in terms of handling when they are on the comfort setting? do they offer a decent performance improvement, or are they too soft to notice? Okay, if they are too soft, how does it's harder setting compare with the bilsteins, not only in terms of performance, but comfort. i guess i'm looking for a middle solution...don't want zero performance gains, yet at the same time i don't want to lose the whole purpose of owning a benz, comfort. any advice would be appreciated. one more thing...can somebody give me an idea of what the cost difference of the two are....sorry for all the questions...but thanks in advance!

Mine are set to Firm. While the ride is at times harsh (thank you 5 freeway), it is definitely worth it.
