Bought CLK-DTM 2000. - Fassssssssst!
Today, doing a little christmas shopping at Aventura Mall, I wondered into Sharper Image, a novelty shop. Among the myriad of new robots, I noticed a car replica display of 1:18 scale cars.
The MB CLK-DTM 2000 smiled at me. I could not believe my eyes, because I first noticed it on the MB's German web-site.
If you are not familiar with the CLK-DTM 2000, here it is:

...or if Lorinser could make their DTM Body Kit an actual DTM Body Kit rather than just Lorinser stylings... it looks nothing like a real DTM.
I own a 1/4 scale radio controlled CLK-DTM

I asked Stillen about this once and it's expensive. The engine, body kit and seat upholstery upgrade is about $30k!!
Also on the engine they offer 2 different kinds of upgrade. One upgrade offers about 430hp fly and the 2nd upgrade offers about 510hp if i remember and that one cost about $18k.

Got a CLK-DTM 2001 too!
Picked-up a few deals today. The CLK-DTM I got from Zellers at CDN$28.93 (less 10% discount).
Maisto 1:18 scale models were going for only CDN$15.98 at Costco in Richmond, BC. Bought a BMW Mini Cooper and MB 300SLR Coupe.
Wish buying the real ones would be just as cheap and easy.

I thought, that with the Canadian exchange rate consideration,
100 US Dollar = 155.99999 Canadian Dollar
100 Canadian Dollar = 64.10257 US Dollar
you would be paying in the Ca $45.- I am going to move North, tired of the perrenial Florida sunshine (humor).
Unfortunately Costo here does not carry this MB model.
Sharper Image Store here received a few of the MB CLK-DTM 2000 1/18 scale models by Maisto.
I paid $35,- incl. 6.5% sales tax for this MB CLK-DTM DTM 2000.
It is quality die-cast metal product, w/doors, hood opening and working steering. Craftsmanship & graphic detailing are superbly executed.
Unlike the full-scale replica, this one is maintenance free! No loaners to contend with.
Santa was good to me.

karl k, specials like these are perks for living....
way up north, in perrenial rain and deep freeze for the next 4 months!
They probably figured that we should be given some price break to keep us from going crazy and leaving for good! LOL!
I was really lucky, because the one I got was a 2001 CLK-DTM model and they had only 2 of them in the whole pallet load.
Went back yesterday to get the BMW Z8, but it was gone.
Happy Holidays to all.

You inspired me to go on a Costco search and find MB-models-mission! There are about 5 Costcos within a 30 mile radius here around Miami.
Some time ago, I recall vaguely to have seen the Maisto 1:18 scale cars, but what a noticed was the arguably "more common" line of cars.
The Sharper Image Store also had another CLK. I think it was a CLK-GTR model, - really far out!!
Maybe that one for next year.

Karl,
You are right. Usually there is a whole pile of them (domestic models like PT Cruisers, Impalas, etc.). Guess they throw in a couple of nice ones for just to spice the display.
Got to be lucky to be able to spot anything worthwhile. What do you think of the 427CI AC Cobra by Kyosho. Always wanted a nice AC Cobra (although I am not a Ford fan at all).

Beng:
Right now I am in MB/CLK/55 heaven - needless to say that a Ford Cobra is for another set of admirers.
Here is another set of CLK-GTR pix:

There is no more CLK-GTR. Ever since the CLK-GTR lifted off the ground at Le Mans a few years ago, they ended the CLK-GTR. The car had some really extreme aerodynamic problems, I guess MB didn't do enough wind tunnel testing on it.
Since then, they have developed the CLK-LM, it is a lot sleeker than the CLK-GTR and it is a lot more aerodynamically sound.

I just found this comprehensive official MB Motorsport/Racing site with racing w/info of past/present & 2002 events.
I only see CLK - DTM & Formula 1 MB racing events, - (plus trucks!??), - no LM events listed for 2001 or 2002 perhaps the LM is not ready to be launched, no pun intended.
Turn up your speakers and click on:

Enjoy!
