well my car is a 99, so I don't have any tiptronic at all. I would like to upgrade the shifter and controller to the 2000+ model so I can shift gears up and down.

There should be an easy way to test if the car is in park - turn off the car and leave the headlights and key in. Now open the door and see if the car beeps and tells you to turn off the lights and/or remove the key. If it does, it obviously detected that the car is in park

Are you sure your car has tiptronic? Its basically when you can upshift and downshift by pushing the shift knob up or down.

you do have tip then - when it's in D, you can move the stick left and right and it will upshift / downshift.

My car has the standard benz shift P R N D 4 3 2 1 which is a pain to use. The clk is the first automatic car i've owned.

I was wondering about the rims but a couple of them got bent. Sh*t, too bad man. Feel bad for you. However, if you can get this guy, an ins. settlement from his insurance company should do you nicely. You should develop 'soreness' even if you feel ok. Time you miss from work factors into a settlement not to mention any type of physical therapy that would be needed. Good luck!

I like this better than tip actually. My dads E430 has tip and its a pain to switch just right between gears at irregular patterns (i.e. other than 1-2-3-4-5 or 5-4-3-2-1) I can shift from 5 to 3 quicker in the CLK than in the E because it either requires 2 clicks or a perfectly timed hold, both of which are harder than moving from D to 3.

That said, my next car will be a 6-spd or will have a ridiculously fast auto.
