Bose AMP wiring and general thoughts on it
since my 60K maintenance is nearly done (all that's left is the serpentine belt and motor mounts), I'm off to fix my ghetto rigged stereo.
I bought the car with an aftermarket amp (memphis audio or something) that was spliced in where the BOSE amp used to be. It looks like they tapped into the front speaker cables going into the stock amp and used one of those Audiolink things to get 2 ch RCA outputs. From there they split the wires to 4 channels (using Y RCA splitterS) and feed it into the Memphis Amp and that seems feed the signal back to the stock speakers.
Couple of problems:
1) the amp is powered by what seems to be a thicker speaker cable thats wrapped around a leg of one of the fuses in the trunk (ghetto!!)
2) don't the bose speakers work at 2ohms where as aftermarket stuff works at 4ohm?
3) the stereo has absolutely no base (none...zilch...nada) im guessing because it's tapped into the front speakers.
4) the F-R fade is useless because everything feeds off front speaker signal
So, how exactly should i go about fixing this whole mess? Is it worth getting the stock BOSE amp back in there and fix it all up? I have a set of 12s and an amp that I'd like to install at some point, so having this horrible mess doesn't really help that much

I'm running the Bose amp as stock but have added an additional 1200w amp w/cap and twin 15's. I'm happy with it but if I did not already have the Bose amp, I certainly would not buy another. Do a nice custom install or have it done. Use JL or Quart and spoil yourself.
Send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll send you some of my bass...........My ears are ringing
