Look under the seat. There are two little things that need to slide forward and those will unhook the seat bottom. Then you can lift the seat bottom up and the rest is easy to see.

(That was a direct quote from the service manual.)

The CLK rear seat cushion is tricky to get out. You're going to have to hit the cushion, forcing it toward the rear of the car, and you're going to have to hit it HARD. It will pop up. There's two hooks that hold it in, so you'll have to hit both of them, one behind the driver's seat, one behind the passenger seat.

Kind of related.... do you all think I should make furniture out of my Mercedes fornt and rear seats. I'm thinking about turning them into video game chairs for my game room.

I think I'll drive it down to LA next week... will you be around?

It's actually a STEAK CHALUPA... someone dropped it in the back.

Push in and up on the corner of the seat and it will release. Then do the other side. Once you get the seat out you will be able to see how it works. Just push in and down to install the seat. I replaced my ash tray with a wood one and had to take the seat out to get to the ash tray. A piece of cake!! Hope this helps!!

1) Get in your back seat, face towards the rear of your car
2) Reach under the left most corner of the lower seat cushion. Push the metal loop rearward, then push the seat cushion towards the rear and finally lift the seat cushion up, the left side should be detached
3) Reach under the right most corner of the lower seat cushion. Push the metal loop rearward, then push the seat cushion towards the rear and finally lift the cushion up, the right side should be detached and you should be able to lift the lower seat cushion out.

Note: Pushing on the metal loop starts to disengage the wire retained by a hook. Pushing rearward on the cushion completes the disengagement. If you need leverage to push the seat cushion, use your knee.

Good luck, email me if you need pics.

DC did you say you had pics of how to do this? I have no idea where these hooks are, or how to disengage them

Hey, guys. I followed these steps with no success yet.
1. I could not locate "the metal loop". Exactly in what corner is it?

2. I tried to push the seat cushion towards the rear and lift it but it didn't do anything. Maybe I should do it with more pressure on it? But I am afraid to break anything (except my knee, of course

Could you please point on this picture:
1. Where the metal loop is located?
2. On what spot of the cushion I need to push/press?

Thank you for any help

Push in the outer corners of the seat bottom and your gonna have to hit it pretty hard toward the rear and then lift it up. I can do it in two minutes now that i have it down. It is pretty easy to do.
