I might cancel my CLK 55

I have been talking to my dealer on a weekly basis and they keep telling me 1 more month, 1 more month, 1 more month. They told me 1 month about 4 months ago! Well there is a Brilliant Silver, fully loaded C32 AMG on the floor and I could walk out the door with it this week. Should I go for the C32 or should I wait for the CLK 55? I am probably going to opt for the C32, but I am curious as to what you all would do.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
You are the Boss! YOU make this executive decision.

I love my CLK55, best car I've had since the Karl Benz patented his motorized tricycle in 1987. I'm 6'2" and everything is just perfect.

Two suggestions:

1. Maff, our Ambassador is preparing a report re questions asked, incl. his reading on the 2003 CLK v current CLK. That might tip the decision scale.

2. Since the dealership has been stringing you along for a couple of months now, ask them to comp you an up-grade rental till your CLK55 arrives.

Personally, I just could NOT see myself in a 4-door car.

Don't do it.

What are you thinking? There are plenty of CLK55s sitting in dealers at MSRP. Did you special order something? Dealers have allotments coming in that are open -- maybe you need to shop at a new dealer.

Pick up the phone and call ten dealers. What do you have to lose. Surely you have a friend or relative that could drive you to a distant dealer. I was thinking of an E55, I called four dealers, two had cars on the lot at MSRP, one had one "on the boat" that I could have gotten, and the other asked me what I was looking for and promised to find it for me if I wanted.

The local dealer will have to honor your warranty no matter where you buy it. Oh, and especially if your dad is such a big buyer at this dealer. But that also makes me wonder why are they jerking you off like this?

i agree with hmrdwn, go shopping around at other dealers. there are plenty of 55s sitting around collecting dust in diff. parts of the country.

John, obviously there is a price difference but you got to weigh it all out. Have you driven the C32?? At one point I was thinking of dumping my E55 for a C32 and I called my buddy at the dealership where I got my E55 and he said I should never do it. He is very big on the W210 chassis so that may have swayed his opinion but I still would love to have the car--one of the fastest automatics out there (C32).

In California I see every Sunday in the LA Times, Starmarked CLK55's (2001's) for 58-60k. I just can't imagine why they are jacking you like this. There has to be several on the ground (not preordered) where you live. Is there another dealer you can look into??

Drive the C32 and if it does it for you then there is your decision. They are 2 different cars and with two completely different looks and engines- both perform like no other also. My friend has a C320 and I personally like the interior, albeit a little dated, of my E55 better. No flames please

Don't give up! I personally like the 55 better. Never driven a CLK55 or a C32 before, but tried both CLK 320 and C 320 and like the CLK more. CLK has better built quality (some quality issue with the C320). Try other dealers, I am sure you will find one.

Good luck!

I'm just going to wait for my 55 to come in unless another C32 pops up.
