pull out the valet key, jam it into the side of the key in the near the butt, u can see a white tab that is holding the back end of the key, use the valet key to depress it and then pull the whole back end out, change ur batteries and ur done....do a search on the boards for pics

If the ignition charges the battery then why do I have to change my battery every 2-3 months and I rarely drive my *****? Also theres another member who can't even hold the power in his key for no more than 2 weeks! I don't think your info is correct...

There is probably a voltage leak within the key fob. Does the battery in another key fob get drained as quickly? Does somebody have a second fob to test with because if it's only one key fob doing it, the problem lies within the fob.
GOOD LUCK!

No offense dude, but give out information that you know to be true, not that you guess is true.

I am not sure if the battery has ever been changed on my my CLK's key as I have only owned it for 6 months. What I have noticed is that the range is really weak, like maybe 15-20 feet. Any idea if changing the battery will solve this? Thanks.

15-20 feet? That's good for our cars. Get a new battery...they are not too expensive and will help if you do have a weak battery. But they range isn't all that good period.

One thing I noticed was that when my range was getting bad and the IR stopped working completely (opening the windows etc. via the remote), it was not the key battery, but the car battery that was low on juice. After getting a new battery, it fixed everything.
