Chrysler engine in our clk??

I was at the shop a few months back, and they mechanic told me the v8 in the clk is the same as a dodge truck v8, dont remember the model, but do we have a chrylser engine in our clk or does the dodge truck have a benz engine? Or is it a combination of MB design and Chrysler build, either way i guess isnt all that great being chrysler build.

The engine in your CLK430 is a M113.943 Mercedes V8. To the best of my knowledge Chrysler isn't using these in their trucks. They offer both a 4.7L V8 and a 5.7L V8 which don't seem to be related to our M113.

The mechanic is definitely mistaken. The Dodge engines are not shared with Mercedes-Benz. The currently available Dodge truck engines are a single cam, 16 valve design. Your CLK has a SOHC (two cams per engine) 24 valve 4.3 liter V8. Basically, they are different designs and sizes.

Why all the assumptions?

That Chrysler makes bad 'engines'? I happen to have a CLK430 and a Chrysler Town and Country minivan. I have to tell you I'm quite happy with the minivan's reliablility. 98K miles and NOT ONE PEEP out of it. The van's reliablity actually gave me the confidence to go ahead and get the CLK. The only time it set me down was when the battery died. It's in the shop now only because it's time for a bunch of preventive maintenance and to fix the locks from where the criminals tried to jack it. Oh, and the airbag light was comin on. The Benz put me down after 2 weeks (CPS) so....

Don't sleep! I like Chrysler products!

if i'm not mistaken, the chrysler crossfire, srt/6 ( i'm not sure this model, but I know it's the top-of-the-line one), has the old SLK32 supercharged engine.

I'm in a car design industry and I gaurantee you that the only Mercedes engine used in a Chrysler vehicle is the Crossfire. Taken from the Older SLK. It's the only and first time Mercedes gave their engine to Chrysler. You could call up Chrylser Engineers at Carlsbad, CA and they will tell you this.

Chrysler Group's Pacifica Design Center
Rutherford Road, Carlsbad CA 92008-3856

This is where they designed most of the new concept and production cars. Production would be sent to Detroit.
