So what all do I need to install ML Navi?

I've scored a cheap cheap ML nav (the one with red and green button on the lower left side) off of ebay ... what all do I need to get to install this thing?

My car is a '99 w/o command (obviously)

Are you sure it's the MCS with the nav drive located in the top slot of the unit?

To install, you'll need to pull your head unit and storage tray. If there is a divider between the two you'll have to Dremel it out. Just drop the nav drive in the MCS(if it isn't already). All the cables you need are already in the dash. You will need to get an antenna. In one of these links Frank lists the company and part number where to buy it(like 13 bucks or something)

When you said "cheap" I thought so,lol.
You need to buy either a dvd or cd nav drive that will fit your MCS(head unit). If it's just for local use, the CD version is cheaper. The updated DVD version only requires 1 DVD(I think) as opposed to the CD vesion which uses 10 CD's for the entire U.S.
I got my CD drive off of one of the guys in the classifieds and paid $500 (average price used) and he threw in all the CD's. You'll pay around the same on Ebay.

I use the f*&k out of this thing. It is definately worth every penny.

Just checked out the Bay. Damn they want $800 for a new CD drive.

Here's a good deal but you can be sure the bidding will go up. Maybe see if he'll do a "buy it now". Make sure it is the right one but I believe it is.

Don't let it kill you or I'll have to say your "eugoogly",lol.
Yes, (been a while but) you remove the few screws and the top of the MCS and just slide in the nav drive until it locks. There is a cable/adapter on the back of the nav drive that plugs into the long female jack on the rear of the MCS. Then just plug in the same wires that were on the back of your old head unit (radio antenna-cd if applicable-power) and also the nav antenna that you will have to buy. Each cable will only fit in its designated spot so you can't screw up.
I ran the nav antenna from the passenger side dash with the wires behind the glove box, you'll need a wire fish(home depot).

If you want me to take some pics, just let me know. I had a tough time visualizing it at first also. Frank had a great publication but it looks like he pulled it from Bnzworld.

One more Q - do you have to put the end of the antenna on the roof? I'd rather not have to drill anything.
